Finished my car! Painted the Box too!

what are those 2 giant holes on the side? are you running 7 subs in one box?
I thought I would put some 6.5s" in there, but went with some aero ports instead //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif JK with you, man...

Running different brand subs?? Revolution and RD Audio
Yeah...same brand of subs, different dust caps. Steve didn't have anymore REVOLUTION caps so...the RD one gives it a nice touch though.

How much sanding and work did it take to get the paint to turn out that well?
Oh God...I've got probably 13+ hours into this thing, and it's still not perfect the way I want it. I sort of did things the long and hard way (learning experience). The corners in the back took a good while to round off so they would fit nicely underneath the frame behind the back seat. I used spray cans to begin with and that was the biggest mistake ever! I put 4 coat of clear on it, hence the glass look.

for all that work id of flush mounted them though. the box did come out rather nice.
I know...after I looked at it, that's the first thing I would have done all over again.

Is that ported??
Yes. 5.04 cubes at 30 hz.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really put a lot of time and testing into this car over the last year.

How long minus the rounding of the corners? How many grits did you go through on the sanding?

i want a box like that for 3 15"s for my sploder
Talk to SPY...I have to give him full credit for the box build.

looks good i believe you will have to do some more work to get it to 46-47dbs legal on the dash. my guess 140.5
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif 140...that's almost an insult (not that I compete, but that's what score I started with when I began working on this car last October). This setup is WAY louder than my 4 sealed 12s" of the same subs and less power; I was breaking a 145+ with them. And these cars are hard as hell to get loud. We'll see though...I'm usually pretty accurate with my "guess by ear."

If I had to guess, I'd probably say 6-8 hours with sanding and painting. Remember, this was my first time with a gun and actually painting a box for that matter. I hit it with 60 grit to begin with and then throughout the rest of the paint, primer and sanding processes I mostly used 220; 400 for the small touch up spots after certain paint stages.

Interesting box design, thanks for sharing. Props.
Yeah...I wanted to do 3 ported 12s" but knew I didn't have the room to go with a regular rectangle, subs facing in a line. I remembered when JL made the the half-octagon boxes back in the day and figured I would do something of the like. Had to have the bends on the face kerfed though...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Looks pretty good man, paint came out really smooth too... Any vids of final product??
I got a nice lol out of the guy who said u were running 2 different companies(Revolution and RD)
I wonder who said that. OK guys...how am I supposed to know they're the same company?! I can't keep track of every car audio manufacturer with all these new sub companies popping up all the time...

To the OP, nice job...looks pro done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well it looks awesome. I'll probably paint my box next summer when I'm out of school using your advice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
