Finally, the TC LMS 15 has arrived...now what?

Ditch the girlfriend, and get yourself a ho, they are cheaper. That way, you can treat yourself to a nice amplifier, and a case of bad herpes in the morning. =)
I'm a 31 year old, less than wealthy fat dude, bro. It ain't like there are beautiful women beating down my door. As soon as you tell me where to pick up a decent looking, trustworthy, moderately intelligent woman that's more than 5 years younger than me and doesn't have a drug habit, I'll ditch the one I have. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No offense but why did you buy a sub that you couldnt properly power?
Id rather buy a sub I couldnt properly power than buy a sub Im going to overpower all the time. Always leave yourself room for upgrades. Its cheaper to upgrade your electrical and amp later than it is to buy new subs, new amp and new electrical upgrades...anything less than the best is bleh at best

Dude, I put my atv up for sale for the sole purpose of buying your SE 4000. That was what, 2 friggin' months ago? Hell, I'd offer to send you like $200 per week for the amp, but I honestly don't think I could afford the payments half the time. Maybe I should kick my gf and her daughter out of my house. I could probably swing it then.
I've gotta get my priorities situated, man. Girlfriend or amplifier? It's a tough decision. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I had over $10k in my yfz450, sold it last year for $2k.

I'd invest in some passive radiators and tune LOW. The TC drivers and particularly the LMS motor ones do obscene 20-30hz stuff. Should sound nice and clean sealed but don't expect ungodly output until you port or PR

People just don't have the extra cash for stuff like atvs and motorcycles here in WV this summer. My Artic Cat is worth what I'm asking for it, but I'm getting nothing but lowball offers.

Seriously, it's a 4x4 that has less than 3k miles, 500 cc engine, independant rear suspension, locking differential, automatic transmission, front & rear brush guards/push bars, nice looking custom front & rear storage, a winch and new tires. The plastics don't even have a scratch or dirty spot on them. By all means, this is as nice as a used atv is going to get.

I paid right at $5k before the storage, bumpers and winch. My asking price is $3,500 obo. I think my price is reasonable, but so far the best offer is $2,800 and I'm not going anywhere near that.

I think I just talked myself into keeping it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Port it, be a shame to see that motor wasted in a sealed box.

Put it in the biggest ported box you can fit and run your JBL on it and see what it does. Hell if you were spontaneous enough to buy that expensive *** sub without much forethought other than you "felt like it" than I don't see why your hesitating throwing it in and trying it out on what you have

Nice sub though. Didn't you scoop that up in the classifieds?

It may have been posted here, but Idk.

The only thing im concerned about is output from about 30-15hz. I want it to play as low as possible. In my experience, sealed has always done this for me. I dont want to lose ANYTHING below tuning. Now you're thinking, "Just tune low, It'll be ok". Well in my experience, it wont. Plus I dont have the space for a big low tuned box.

PR is another option, but I dont know crap about those.

On another note, I just moved into my first house. I still need to get some basic box building tools, like a table saw...

What Im really looking for is people who have actually ran these subs before. What kind of power did you send it? Box? Overall impressions?

Since I lack time to build a box atm, Im seriously thinking about going to the local CA shop and getting whatever single sealed 15 box they have just to establish some sort of "control" in this experiment. It will probably be too small and built like shit, but at least Ill be able to hear it, and develop a plan.

we recommend 5k for an amp such to match the peak performance capabilities, put 5k continuous power on any sub and its gonna die before i see my next birthday, speakers don't generally do well long term, but short term can be incredibly. For it to sound its best you need to generally match the amplifier to the short term rating. This doesn't help the sub, but rather prevents clipping distortion that you might otherwise experience when you push the amp harder. Having said that, the LMS Ultra will do very well with 2000 watts

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Thanks for the input!
