ive had them before they were like the very first gen never used them just got rid of them because i had gotten them in a trade as a throw in.

The other day i traded a 15 inch Orion HCCA 15.4 for 4 12 inch Type R's (all dual 4 and are newest models 600 rms) I threw them into a large box i had built for my 4 12 inch T1s the box specs are 10 cubes are space (after displacement with the T1's not sure the difference in the Type R's) Tuned to 32 Hertz ported.

Currently i have all 4 wired at 2 ohms bridged to an AudioPipe 3000d. When i had the Orion paired to it i used a DMM to tune the amp to 2000 RMS i have not changed the settings one bit since putting the type r's on it so i imagine im putting about 500 RMS in each sub. These things get loud as hell and its not even rated power..

i know type rs are famous for taking well over rated so im wanting to know how much CLEAN power can i expect to get from my AP3000d if and also what makes this model type r different than the 500 watt rms older models?? And givin box specs and amp how much power can i put into each

if i were to use my DMM to set my amps gains to run about 2500-2800 RMS could the subs take it and could the amp deliver it cleanly? i LOVE my ap amps but i know they arnt the cleanest at their peaks

sorry for the ramble thanks for any replies

Sell them and get some SAs.
If I switched my type r's to sa's my score would go down not up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
clean power from an AP is an oxymoron. I'd set it for the entire 3000 and not to be worried.

I've run type R 12's, the old models, on 900 rms each and they took it beautifully, would start smelling a little 'warm' on a song like Juice Box or something like that. Love those type R's though, still got two of em in my girls car. Almost bought 2 15" type R's but went with sundown sa 15's.

Hm okay so maybe ill just see what my amp can do set it to the full 3k? And I have 4 t1s as well would take either set over the sa though they are really good quality im not super impressed.

Can I use,my dmm to see what,my voltages are dropping to? How would I do that if its possible.

Thanks for the replies

Are there any upgrades from the new models and old ones

hows the T1 compared to the alpine R's which one is better?

You know honestly I've been through A LOT. Of subs and the t1s have been my fav. The only ones I've held onto. 800 rms I could throw 1000 at each easily..

But I also have never had all 4 at the same time amped up more than 400 rms each which, means im currently throwing more wattage and closer to their rated than the t1s..but the type rs are supposed to take more still...

Atm in my personal experience with how so far I've had them the t1s def still got lower and louder over the type rs and the wernt eben moving at 400 rms. The type rs move pretty well at the power I have them at now....

Also if it helps funny thing I went to a local shop to have him double check my tunng he was telling me how he just swapped out 4 type rs for 4 t1s and made a huge difference he was surprised

I love my t1s though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I had a 15" Type R and threw 150w over RMS rating at it daily.

These are durable subs, you could probably put them 250w over rating, and if your power was truly clean, they'd take it like it was 100w under.

Don't mean to thread jack but can I assume an alpine 1242 12" type r is a pretty decent sub? I have a guy offering to trade me for some stuff I've been trying to get rid of and if these are decent (or at least better than an infinity reference 12) I might get it.
