To make things even more confusing, I can get a Brand new in box D2 RL-P for 210 shipped now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif But Im worried the Nine.1 will blow it!!! Ahhhhhh!!!Dude just get the D4 RL-P and be done with it...
I've heard that the IDMax is a little edgy over 1000 watts and so is the RL-P... so no big difference there... I'm sure they are both excellent sounding drivers and only need around 500 watts to reach full xmax (they even have the same xmax)... One will not get much louder than the other... the only thing you could possibly be concerned with is its SQ characteristics, which I'm sure they will both sound great to you.
On another note, so that you stop obsessing over power... it doesn't really matter, as long as the power is enough to reach the full potential of the speaker.
Assume we are looking at two subs such as the XXX and the 13W7. They both have similar linear excursion capabilities (32mm or so)... The XXX is rated at 1600 wrms, and the 13W7 1000... Now assuming that they both need their RMS to reach full excursion, the 13W7 would be just as loud with 1000 watts as the XXX would be with 1600. Of course thats 13W7/XXX case isn't reality, but its just the idea that we've been trying to jam into your skull for the past two pages.
So conclusion, get the D4 RL-P and enjoy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i would just set the gain right. if you put the rl-p in a ported box around 30-34hz it sounds good and gets loud
I have to agree with this ^^^^^ you will want to expand in about month . two ported rlp's and a ed9.1 aint no joke !!!I have 2 RL-p 15s ported with an Orion 2500d powering them. They handle the power fine although my eletrical system isnt beefed enough so Im not getting full power from my amp. But I love my Rl-Ps I suggest getting the d4 and the nine.1 and if you ever want to upgrade you can get another rl-p d4 and run the nine.1 at 1 ohm. Good luck.
i have an rl-p d4 in 1.3^ft,with 600 phoenix gold watts on it.great sound, loud and no sighn of stress.ive read lots of posts with people running 1000 wrms to them, your not going to blow the rl-p unless your stupid, and if your that stupid it doesnt matter which sub you buy......your gonna blow it!Its your fault!! You made everything more complicated!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Its a sealed box at 1.03 cu ft that i already have. I wish you had a Dual 4, it would make it alot easier for me to decide. I really don't wanna blow this sub man.

oh,1.03 ?? maybe its me thats stupid (cant read) the rl-p is not going to get super low in that box unless you put 1000wrms on it. and super low is where it shines best?i have an rl-p d4 in 1.3^ft,with 600 phoenix gold watts on it.great sound, loud and no sighn of stress.ive read lots of posts with people running 1000 wrms to them, your not going to blow the rl-p unless your stupid, and if your that stupid it doesnt matter which sub you buy......your gonna blow it!
Well, if i get the Dual 2 one, its gonna be getting like 1200 watts.oh,1.03 ?? maybe its me thats stupid (cant read) the rl-p is not going to get super low in that box unless you put 1000wrms on it. and super low is where it shines best?...but you could port the box and it would be sweet
It looks like its gonna be 1200 watts to the RL-P now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif Unless i wanna shell out the extra 50 bucks to get the Dual 4900 watts to an Rl-p....will **** the 250 you were sending your Perfect. What's wrong with spending $20 to build a box to specs for the sub and make it sound uber good?
