Final subwoofer decision thread for me!! Help me end this!!! IDMax or RL-P!!

Just get the one that you can find cheapest. They are both good choices and I doubt you'd regret going with either one...... or you could buy both? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
Well, im worried about the power a little bit now. If i went with the Dual 4 RL-P over the Dual 2 RL-P, i wouldn't have to worry about overpowering it with the nine.2, but its also kind of lame knowing i won't be running the amp at its full potential

the RL-P is like 50 bucks cheaper.

I'd go with the Rl-p. 1200 is a bit high for an IDMax anyway.

The idmax will run fine off 1200 all day. It gets my vote.

And it seems that the RLP is better for like 600 watts or under, and i don't wanna run that low, i wanted to run at 1000 watts or above, so i need a sub that can handle that and not be on the brink of death all the time.
Neither of those subs will really excel with over 1000w. So, if that's what you are looking for, start looking elsewhere. The Rl-p will deal well with anything 1kw or under. I've got 800w on mine in a sealed box, and I'm not even sure I'm pushing it to it's limits yet.

Though, I don't understand what the hang up on power is. I'd take a sub with 800w on it and great SQ and output over a sub that needs more power than that for comparable performance. Does it really matter how much power you run, as long as it sounds how you want?

Uhh.. **** the RLP if it can't handle the power and is only $50 cheaper.
Why the hell is everyone so hung up on power? Since when did power determine how good a subwoofer sounded, or loud it sounded? Last I recall; Never. Sub X with 1200w won't necessarily be louder than Sub Y with only 800w.

It could handle it. But what's the point? No performance benefits from running over 1kw with either sub. All you're doing to increasing your risk of blowing either sub with more than 1kw.

well, i could get the RL-P Dual 4, and with the NIne.1 it would be getting about 900 watts. Think that is a better idea than getting the Dual 2 and running it at 1200?

well, I was running a 12 inch Perfect VQ off of a JL 250/1, and i just want it to hit alot harder than that sub did, which is why i want more power.

What subs were you deciding between before you went with the RL-P? And what made you go with that sub over the IDMax? Sorry for the million quesions, im just a very extensive shopper. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

IF you get the nine.1 it doesn't matter if you get a dual or dual 4 Rl-p. If you get the dual 2 ohm just get you box built to spec and watch your gains. My Rl-p had 1000+ watts on it but I made sure I did not kill it. If you are scared of the power just get the dual 4 ohm you probably could not tell much of a difference anyway. Or get two D4 and port them and enjoy.

My box right now is 1.03 cu ft. I would rather not build a new one if this one will be fine.

If im not gonna get better sound out of the Dual 2 over the Dual 4, screw it then. I don't wanna risk blowing the sub.
