they are in my sig, 3.2 cu ft, tuned to 33hz...
That's a 15 in 3.2 cubes? Really? I had my 15" xxx's in 4 cubes each (gross) and the boxes looked smaller than that (compared to the sub diameter, not the vehicle interior). There must be a severe optical illusion going on there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I saw your thread looking for similar subs to the XXX only louder. Honestly, that's a tall order. XXX's are BL optimized, and handle a good amount of power. Its going to be hard to find another sub that equals it in lack of distortion, is louder, but doesn't require a narrower bandwidth (higher tuning) to get significantly louder. The new XXX is the sub that comes to mind. I saw in your thread that you were considering BTL's... not even close to similar performance to a xxx.

trunk before the spare tire - notice how well it fit

wow, response is pretty much flat from 75 to past 10K, I would REALLY like to hear this setup one day.

and that is with minimal EQ adjustments. correcting phase issues at the crossover points was HUGE for smoothing out response.

with the sub turned on it can be flat from 20Hz on up - but that doesn't sound all that great since our hearing isn't "flat". i have given it a nice sloping increase until it sounds "balanced". i need to take new RTA images when i swap out the mid and replace the midbass... and maybe make tweeter spheres... and keep the H701 out... and make whatever changes i desire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif the RTA setup is in a case at my desk at work and I can use it anytime.

like i said; "final" does not exist in DIY.

I really wish i had known of this site before I started back in car audio a couple years ago. I never heard of the Alpine processor(i know, lame, but I have been doing pro audio stage work and recording for the past decade). I am very impressed. It comes with a display to control whatever source you want, and those can be optical inputs too. I hate breaking out my laptop every time I want to tweak some settings.

the PXA-H701 was great for tweaking from the driver's seat - even while at stop lights. i got very comfortable with navigating and tuning. i played with a lot of configurations before i settled on what have now. and that is probably the greatest benefit - the ability to tune while in the car with ease. though, now that i know where i want everything, i doubt i'll put it back in. the H701 was noisy and built too cheaply. the F#1 alternative was much nicer but still 4x the price.

an optical input (1 of 3) can even be assigned as a digital AUX input from an external DVD player. the controller fit nicely in my sunglasses holder.
