F'in A I need a job...

Yeah, because if you can't get a job in TX, u have issues dude. That or a criminal record. Thats fine, I am moving to OK soon with my girl to go to pharmacy school there and I now live in Orlando, where there's a booming economy. Switching to an "economic depression" in OK will kill me lol
economic depression? please elaborate

where in ok?
here, it sucks, i ve got a college degree, with honors, ans *** laude, and I make 22k/year

but then again, Im going to move departments soon, and more than double that.. so Im not too upset I guess....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif

unless you're a specialist in Oklahoma, you're not going to be able to make bank...
not quite sure how that works. i live in oklahoma and bank almost 28k/yr doing cust service on the phone.

Corporate merchandisinginventory management

logistics

customs importing and exporting
Why don't you become a wholesale rep for a car audio/electronics manufacturer?

Some ideas:

US Amps

Ascendant Audio

Ultimate

Hifonics/Maxxsonics/Autotek/Crunch

And so on...

Hell, in a pinch, you can easily get a job as a gas station manager. I made $31,000/year in salary in 2000! Just don't make it a long-term thing, since it's a dead-end job and it really sucks. But, you can always get free smokes, gas and beer! And whatever cash you can steal cash by cooking the books (you handle the cash *and* the books and nobody really checks your work). If you're gonna steal, though, then work for a corporate-owned store like AM/PM or Shell and not a mom-and-pop shop.

Alright, I think this is the first time I've read through 11 pages of a thread ever, but here is what I've gathered. If you truly want to land a 50k job, you have to get a degree. I realize you may be a "smart" person, a lot of people are smart, you just need to have a piece of paper and a shitload of debt to prove it. Take classes through a community college for two years, it hardly costs anything in the grand scheme. Then after you get all your BS classes out of the way enroll at a relatively prestigious school and get your degree. Then at least you have a better chance of making 50k.

Even being in school, the number of people who graduate with a bachelors that are making over 50 is pretty small, if you aren't a business major or engineer that number is probably zero. Thankfully I'm a business major and I'm making a shitload for my internship this summer, as are a few of my good friends and we're only 21.

I think you need to look at some facts here, what is the average salary in the states now? Like 35ish? Look at the the number of people with college degrees now, than look at all the people older than you that have put forth the time and energy to advance that their companies in order to make more money. After all of that not to be a dick, but being smart doesn't automatically put you significantly above average at the end of the day.

I found this article and wasn't at all surprised by the facts, and I feel like they've already been mentioned here... http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/censusandstatistics/a/collegepays.htm

Good luck with everything man, and despite everything I said if you truly feel you are worth more, and aren't happy with what you are getting, hold out and something will come along.

I appreciate the somewhat of a reality check //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I do however have an interview for an import management position on Thursday. Pay is 50-60k a year with 401k...not to shabby //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wish me luck I guess? Oh and Thursday is my B-day so that would be one hell of a b-day present to land this job.

good luck.
What firm?

Its through a staffing agency. I interview with them before I interview with the actual company. They wont tell you before you interview with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Oh well...I can still keep my hopes up.

I went through that with this staffing agency called Adecco. I didn't like the circumstances. I thought it was a scam and he thought I should cut my hair.

Good Luck...focus on your experiences. Also, those numbers you through out...employers like that....They don't really care than you can calculate the fv of 1,000@6% for 5 years in your head.

(~$1,340)

Lol...niiice. You would think that would be a selling point to be able to not have a constant crutch of a calculator.
