FI Q in a Phase Box.

Pete just came out with the phase box. So not a lot too reference from. But he did say it will work with any size woofer as long as you have the space. Also the phase box is the only box Pete does that he doesn't sell plans for. He only personally builds it.

how do you know??

Well count me out. I was thinking about trying one for some little subs I have but not for $250. I could handle $40 for plans.

but than again it does make a 6.5 sound like a 12inch sub

Nobody really knows anything about the theory behind the phase box because they are currently working on getting a patent for it.

It seems pretty interesting but really doesn't look like much more than a hybrid between a transmission line and a 6th order BP. I could be way off but that's the way it looks.

Horns and 6th/8th order bandpasses can make a 6" sub sound like a 12" sub but that doesn't mean it's going to make a 12" sub sound like an 18.

EDIT: After watching that phase box video, I'm not impressed. It didn't seem very loud with the lower end on that (which sounded around 40hz) but I can't judge the upper fequencies. I do know that I have a 6" midrange driver that is louder than my current 12 from 55hz and up.

Im willing to pay $40 for the plans.

about 7 or 8 years back Boss had a Prototype Phase box for home audio system.

Well… I am not a toxicbass believer, as of yet.

I have seen a lot of plans from them and “hype” about them. I can say the plans the look nice and sound nice *(this is kind of subjective as I’ve only hear 3 different setups). But, I always question how the same setup would sound in a standard port box or even a box based on the vender specs.

Now, I am not against an unbiased test from this or anyone design just changing the design and metering it. I’ll even go out and buy a termlab to do the test.
