Fi BTL design...

Trying to get the perfect design for the BTL in my single cab. So far this is one of the more promising designs. I know there towards where the port exits it gets a little turny...but I play on fiberglassing some curved cardboard into those corders to round off the angular design...

This box is 2 cubes @ 35/44sq inches of port

Questions I have are....

Is this box big enough for the BTL fully loaded 12?

I can get a bigger box, but I lose some port area. down to 36 or so sq inches but the box is 2.3 or 2.4 cubes

tell me what you think.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif this is not the SPL box...this is the daily box, the SPL box will utilize aeroports.

thats a good way to minimise on the 180 degree turns and still get a good length of port. I wonder how that area behind the port will act though.

Hence the reason for this design...in a typical L shapped port for the box...it puts that gap in the front not the back...thats why this box was designed to put that gap back there. Only time will tell though. Aero ports may be the best option for daily too.

it may work fine, but that opening with the 180* and then a 90* looks like it will add hella air turbulance or a slow down of air. where the tuning could get affected. also port noise could be imminent no matter what size the port is. just because of the turns at the end of the port.

on this enclosure altho the port area is big enoght, it creates port noise because of the 90* at the opening.

so if posible keep the bends on inside opening of the port, rather then towards the out side. where the noise will be heard.

45* will actualy help to a point.

how close to the sub will the port get if he eliminates the 90* bend?. and just go L shaped on the port.

can the port be made a hairs norrower to make the port shorter at the same tuning? and eliminaminate the need for so many bends or will the port speed get above 16.5M/S rms?, at the rms power rating of the sub.

what are the dimensions on the enclosure and the port?

the design looks good, and i may just be nict picking to much. sorry.
