I have one those cars that have a so called premium sound system lol(infinity). It has an factory amp, 2 tweeters, 4 6.5" speakers two front two rear, and a 6" sub, for a total of 7 speakers. And like many other people i blew the factory sub. I want to replace it but i have no idea of what type of sub to get or the impedance. Can someone familiar with this help me out, or give some suggestions.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

you want to keep it factory?

go to a infinity dealer ship

if not go grab a nice and cheap sub like a kicker comp have like 250-150 watts rwms and a little box to keep your rtunk space and should even sound better then stock idk thats what ill do

a nice like 10 inch kicker

yeah i thought about just buying another 6" sub and just placing it in factory location but im not sure of the impedance or the sub type, ex; free air etc..

You have 3 options pretty much. One is to try and find your car in a junkyard, or a 'part out' on like craigslist and pull the sub to get it cheap. The other is to pay an arm and a leg at a dealership for the sub. And the last is to ditch the factory sub altogether, and go aftermarket with a new sub and amp that will outperform your factory ishhhhh.

come to think about it i put 1 kicker comp 12 in my car just for a test(a shop sold me some junky subs )thats another story

the 1 12 sounded very nice so 1 10 should be nearly identical only like a 250 watt amp if i rember

ok, does anyone know which impedance it should be ie( 2 ohm, 4 ohm, 8 ohm). I wasn't looking for a whole lot of bass i already have 15" sub back there, I just want it for times when i turn my 15" off, the factory doesn't sound so flat. Like when your parents, or grandparents get in the car u want to be able to listen to the radio just with the plain old factory system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

in that case just get a remote bass knob...if your amp has the outlet for one

and 4 ohms should be but safe but you can go 8 oahm to be safer

most factory subs tell u the ratings on the magnet. like in my sisters tahoe the factory 8" sub was blown, and i pulled it out and it was 8ohm.
Yeah i figured, i didnt even think to look at it when i took it out, it was so long ago and it was just getting on my nerve.
