I know this might be a odd question but here it goes. I can get a factory head unit with navigation from a junked 08 Jeep and was wondering if it could be made to work in an older vehicle or is it tied to the Main ECM of the vehicle? So basically is it a standalone unit or not.

Thanks

You should be able to get the radio to work easily.... I doubt you would be able to get the nav to work in the other vehicle. Some of the nav units are pains to install they need to be hooked into the vehicle's speed sensor (on the transmission) to accurately gauge how fast you are going. In the Pioneer decks this is just one cable.

You would have to post pics of the back on the HU for anyone to tell you how much work its gonna be to install if you want the nav to work.
