Expy2K's Box Building Comp. Pre-Thoughts

if thats the case, I have no chance...
Finding someone unbiased with all the equipment really wont happen.

THe only way to actually do this would be for everyone to meet, all build for the same woofer in the same car... and the judges 100% impartial (good luck) combined with the contestants voting.

You can't ship it... if someone had a box that didn't do what they thought it would do, they would claim foul.

The only 100% impartial way to do it would be on the meter, but the meter only says so much.

Would be nice to have an official SQ judge from some org there, not just some guy.
You dont have to worry, you box woudnt get past the first couple judges anyways. Remeber a nice chunk of the judging is Nice looking and Unique //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Actually Mark, I am a very unbiast person when it comes to off the forum. On the forum...I dont give a shit...If one of your boxes were entered and I had the oppertunity I would not only judge it as fair as the next, but probly excited to see what the hype is about...
With that said, I am actually not "some guy" I actually do Judge SQ for an org.

Take it or leave it...ther are atleast 7-10 of us here and are all capable of handling this...
Well, I'm not biased either... and there are more of us in the chicago area that would be able to do it, also more central for a possible meet. Its also very likely I'll have my shop up by the time this actually happens, and it'll be in this area... so a possible location.

Phat hertz actually has some of the strongest SQ guys out there, they would definitely be able to judge... not to mention its chicago, they are buttloads of people here that are loud/sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I, too, am very impartial, very straightforward, but obviously I wouldn't be able to be a judge, at least not for my own box.

What org do you judge for?

I posted some rules in the other thread, but what about the test vehicle if enclosures will be shipped somewhere?

And it kinda looks like it is headed towards the Texas group. I have no idea who they are, but if there are enough unbiased one with org relations, it might be best.

I judge for Texas Bass Productions. We are seeing quite a few SQ champs from USACi and ISACA coming over due to the lack of area shows. Currently ~30 SQ and SPL members with several more show every show.

Actaully, I might be able to have a 5 time SQ champ be one of the judges. He would dfinatly be unbiast, if someone feels uncomfortable with my motives.

EDIT: He is not on the forum and knows none of you.

jntar....

get with your people and of course Expy, as he did start this, and work out some rules.

Sounds like you have the most qualified group so far.

And if each enty into the contest is $5, then all that could be put back into the pot on top of what others are offering for prizes, I think a 1 - 3 place would be good.

The listening tests would have to be 100% blind for them to hold any merit.

I'd like to see it somewhere central, where at least some of the contestants could be inattendance... texas is way out of the way.

il is out of the way for people on the west coast.

Ok I like what peeps are saying..

I think we should find someone that needs a Single 10-12-15 box and who is willing to pay $100 for the box. You know a basic box within set deminsions for a trunk, no custom mold boxes for a Mustang, 98 Dakota etc, since we all dont have access all dif. kinds cars. We need something universal.

Their $100 + my $150 + Justins $50 + enry fees = $300+ to the winner or we do 1st-3rd

I am ok with 2 catagories, MDF and MDF/Fiberlglass.. but I rather have just MDF/Fiberglass so the winner walks away big

Also I can even get a cool *** 3 tier trophy for the winner..

I got some ideas for the judges, but I need to think on it.

Last, I am mainly looking for Badazz build and shaped boxes not just functional.

Like if you wanna build a half mdf box with a fiberglass face, with Type R engraved coved in bright orange paint, with red leds underglows,

something like that..
