Need your advice.

Thinking of switching amps. I'm sound quality oriented and listen to music at moderate volume. Currenly have Aura MR62s (60RMS) and Coustic 6.5" subwoofers (80RMS)

My current amplifier is a Kicker 354xi, 35RMS@12.5V and 50RMS@14.4V. Thinking of getting a MTX Thunder 546, 45RMS@12.5V and 70RMS@14.4V. Say if my alternator puts out 12.9 volts, would the improvement in sound quality be marginal and not worth the switch. Or would I need to get something with more power to make an upgrade worthwhile?

no no no

I run the Aura speakers and I feed them 180w a peice, yes you read that right 180w to a MR52,and the sound is amazing - even with my cheap PA ov820 amp the SQ is over the top

do yourself a favor, dont read MFG specs and power up them biotch's,you will thank me later

I was feeding them 75w each and I didnt like them much, too flat and boring sounding

So I did some experimenting and WOW

now I am loving them - smooth & clear ,lots of snap and punch

try it mang!

Buy a cheap big amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Wish I had the luxury of experimenting.

I have the mtx 564 amp, and its great. I have to say its way overated. Gets loud enough to make your ears bleed, and still sound great while doing it. Im not sure if you would gain any sq from switching amps, but maybe they would do better with more power (who knowz). I love the amp. pm me if you have any questions about the 564. ps you can get the 564 for cheap. I did
