ever got a ticket for tint?

so im at a stop light last night around 12:30 in the morning with my windows down. wasnt bumping or doing anything annoying, just sitting there talking to a friend waiting for the light to turn green. as soon as the light turns green a cop that was next to me turns his lights on. im like wtf is going on? he asks me if i knew why he was pulling me over and i said sir i honsetly dont. he tells me my tint is too dark and that it is illegal. well my tint is 10% so yea its illegal but in a sunshine state (florida) and my windows were open so he could easily see me, lets be serious...

so he gave me a 73.50$ ticket and said have a nice night.

sometimes cops like to nit-pick. they do have a quota to meet towards the end of the months ya know..

i got 15% 2 weeks ago and haven't had a single problem yet *knocks on wood*. it's all dependent on where you live as well as how much the cops decide to enforce the laws.

my guess is 10% is illegal almost anywhere, so i don't think the cop was knit-picking. he admitted to having 10% tint so obviously the cop had to have known. write to jeb bush about illegal tinting, instead of ca.com

true. but 35% is the legal limit here in oklahoma. i have to drive at night and i never have a problem with tint and cops. just take it to court. if cop doesn't show up, ticket gets dropped.

Where in south Florida are you?

I'm in Hollywood... cops here haven't messed with me because of my tint and I just put 5% on about a month ago. I know if I drive in Miami-Dade County that I'll get pulled over in minutes, they're strict with the tint laws.

coral springs. legal limit is 25% or 28% here. i can see fine at night with the windows up but you cant see into the car and im sure that would piss cops off. but i always drive with my windows down especially at night. so i dont know why its such a big deal

it's obviously illegal to have 10%. idk what the problem is? i can shoot a bum and say it's only a bum, what is the big deal? but it's illegal.

did he use the light meter thingy? If he didnt put the tester on your window then fight the ticket.. you should win...unless you were dumb enough to admit it was 10%

oh and yeah ive gotten a ticket once.. and a warning once..for having 5% on my old truck.

i got 20 percent all the way around and i have never gotten a tint ticket, going on two years now,

it doesn't elp that my interior is dark either

Ah Coral Springs, they're a little strict because it's a more upscale area then Hollywood... the reason for the tint laws is because a cop could be coming up to your window and you could be loading a gun and taking out a knife and they wouldn't even know it until it's too late.
