Equalizing the Crossover Point

my system sounds GREAT. this might be a very bold statement, but i think my install/setup will give your setup a run for its money.. except for your profis.. my perfects cannot produce sound like they can.. but for what i've got.. ive got everything sounding great.. and ive got my components playing down to 52 HZ CLEARLY believe it or not... ive played several songs at max volume and my midbass hits.. not very hard but very audible and that really satisfies my taste. oh, and it doesnt break up or distort at all..i bet if i sound deaden it will have a little more oomph to it though. ive got my EQ to make my system sound GREAT. so about the part where u say EQing will not help.. i STRONGLY disagree. i have my crossover points set exactly the same (thanks to the Audiocontrol EQX's programmable crossover resistor module feature).. and i use my EQ to bring out the frequencies i feel need to be brought out more.. im not going to cross everything over at 80 because i dont want the lower midbass coming from the sub. also, the higher i cross everything over the more i hear certain drums coming from the bacc.. and thats mainly what i dont want. i appreciate your feedbacc and i understand what you are saying. but i think you underestimate my knowledge and experience with my system.. and my preference.. but thanks. heres a little excerpt from an audiocontrol tech sheet to back up my EQ statement up.

Well noob I guess I can agree with what you're saying as well as blue. I had the same issues with my car when I was tweaking it. If I crossed over at 80 I could localize the sub and it corrupted my soundstage. I also tried it at 55 and I felt I was over working my midbass drivers. Now don't get me wrong my 6.5" Black Gold drivers could handle it very well from low to mid volume levels but I didn't dare to crank it with that crossover setting. So I found a happy medium in between 65 and 70 hz and now i get good mid bass without corrupting my front stage and NO longer having to worry about killing my midbass drivers.

No ... you are dead wrong and just don't know enough to realize it.1st ... An EQ can only help so much for your Infinity's inadaquacies .... The more EQ you use , the more problems you welcome in.

2nd .... You have to know how to bring your sub's sound up front with you , and crossing over real low is a cop out , and not a solution , but believe what you will.

Your very statements and opinions , betray you ..... They tell you are indeed a noob , with much to learn.

Sad thing is .... You'll NEVER learn by asking questions from experienced people , then argueing with the answers ..... Sounds like you're listening with closed ears.

PS : As far as your system and how it sounds ..... As long as you're happy , but NO ..... It's not even on the same level as mine .... sorry....

G'luck

Take it easy blue its just the internet. LOL. You are right about one thing for sure, an EQ should be used to lower unwanted peaks....NOT boost where your system lacks.

Noob said he appreciated your input but he was happy with what he has. So just let it go at that even if you think his system is lacking and he's not taking your advice. Without hearing his system you can't really say his system is suffering. You also can't say that its NOT on the same level as yours without listeining to it either.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
