Enough Volume?

My box is 48x12x17 using 3/4" MDF. This gives the total to be 4.37956 for interior volume. The speaker recommendations are 1.25 per sub. That would mean 3.65 total. I will have 3 subs (JL 12w3v2) in a sealed enclosure. It's tight but I am not sure how much each speaker takes up... so, does this sound right (I'd also like to put some think machine brushed stainless steel panels and a neon in there as well)?

there is nothing wrong with making the box a little bigger than recommendations. I do it to most of the boxes i build. It adds a little more BOOM. Going less than the recommended is bad however. And you dont need to separate the chambers if they are all the same woofer.

Thanks for all the replies... these will go in a Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab truck firing down, 3 inches from the floor all powered by a JL Audio 1000/1.

It should hit pretty hard. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Attached is an image of what I am trying to do... comments/suggestions appreciated. Also, regarding the stainless steel panels... how do I mount them? I don't want screws showing anywhere inside the box. Should I screw them in with the rest of the box or use some type of adhesive? Or?

I'd also like to do an actuator for the amp rack lid but not sure if I will have the room...
