enough space

I have a huge box in my trunk and the ports and subs are like 2" close to the back of the trunk,is that enough space or should i fire towards the cabin? thanx

my box is 2.0 cubed and is about an inch and a half away from the rear of my trunk and the sub is firing toward the rear. i dont have it this way because of space limitations, but because it seems to sound better when i place my sub farther away from the rear seats. i was told it sounds better because there is less cancellation between the waves bouncing off the rear of the vehicle and the waves coing directly from the woofer. hope this helps u a lil. what part of san diego r u from?
