So, now that I own a 2nd Gen Tacoma Crew Cab I have noticed a lack of enclosures for enthusiast. Even my go to box builder did not have specs to build one.

So, this summer I am gonna try and design and build 5 different enclosures for the 2nd Gen Tacoma Crew Cab. A dual sub sealed enclosure that fits the back wall. A single sub sealed enclosure that fits behind the drivers rear seat. A single sub ported that fits the back wall. A downfiring enclosure for multiple 6.5" subs. And then I am gonna try to build an enclosure in the cubby underneath the rear seats.

There is one downfiring enclosure I have found is priced at $1700. Insane. Most of the behind the seat enclosures are $250 and up. The single behind the rear drivers seat is $180-200. And no one has a beneath seat enclosure for the second gen Tacoma.

My cousin has a Tacoma. I’m building her a box for free just so I can get dimensions. I’m compiling designs for trucks to put truck boxes up online this summer. I get lots of requests for under seat and console boxes. No newer Tacomas yet though. i just did a Ford F-150 under seat box for 3 8s. He said he was quoted 1200$ to do a downfire box for dual shallow mount 12s. It did have some nice looking led lights on a front beauty panel, but I thought 1200$ was insane just to build a box. No install.

I see your for sale thread. I’ve been playing around a lot with passive radiators lately. i havent tried a 6.5 or a 15 inch setup with them yet. How do those kickers perform behind a seat?

If you have ever heard a factory HarmonKardon or Bose system that uses the 6.5" sub, these are very similar. These are something where you want just enough bass to fill in the low end. Granted, they sound excellent for only 150 watts. But they are just that. a 6.75" 150 watt subwoofer with a 6.75 passive radiator.

Yeah they make ugly ass enclosures like this
45927

for $144
Or basic sealed enclosure like this
45928

for $158. This one has reviews saying the box blew apart. Or got it and you could see daylight thru the seams.

And a FoxAcoustics box is $250. TacoTunes has enclosures, but they have a bad rep for taking forever to get you your product.

I just want to do something that once I test it and see that it works how a basshead would want it. And then if someone wants an enclosure I can build it and offer it at a reasonable price.

PR is more of an SQ oriented way to go than ported. It isn’t as loud, but group delay is essentially 0 and there is no port noise. I was playing around with an 8 inch sub using 2 10 inch radiators a few weeks ago. Had the box tuned down to 25 HZ. I was surprised an 8 inch sub could actually move the radiators as much as it does. Not like my 10 moved them, but it played 25 HZ tones surprisingly well. I didn’t have 2 8 inch radiators so I just used the 10s.

Yeah. Same thing here. The under seat box I did for the 8s was 325$. He’d already wasted that much with 2 prefabs that sounded like ass.
