I am trying winISD and would like to know what is the difference between my responses with the gain chart.I'm toying withe the kicker solo baric S 15 c - 2 to get familiar. I'm just looking for some clarity.

in 8 cubes tuned to 30 hz its saying on the spl chart +3.7db@30hz and peak +5.77db@34hz

in 4 cubes same tuning its -.73@30hz peak +4.09db@42hz

I want to know it the difference in db is increase in sound? Because thats what i currently think it is and just want to get it right for sure.

Can you give an example? like lets say i had the mentioned sub with the 2 enclosures and with the 4cube enclosure i did a 135@30hz dose that ideally mean that with the 8cube enclosure i see a db gain over the 135@30hz

also what is port mach in vents tab?

and how important is port area i am trying to us aeros and when i use small ports like 2 4" areos its saying 6.37 vent length .While with 2 6"areos its saying 16.36".

its not showing a difference on the graph if i change the ports either .i am talking about port area 15-18 inches of port per cube but when i put smaller ports it just makes the length shorter. is it possible to lack port area and still have good results

PM me, I'll walk you through ISd from start to finish lol.
that sounds like a good deal.. are you familiar with isd beta too?I would like to learn to use these two programs and actually be able to trust my results, instead of just praying I didn't f-something up. lol.

^^ you trying to thread jack ??

im using beta

whats TSP's theille small perameters? im using published

The sub you are using is meant for sealed enclosures ONLY. Google the model then download the owners manual from Kicker. This subwoofer is in no way intended for ported enclosures. The solo classic line is meant for small sealed enclosures. I used to have a 12inch version and it was pretty decent but didn't handle much over its rms power rating.

^^ you trying to thread jack ??
haha no sorry, I promise there was absolutely no effort involved in trying to thread jack. it comes naturally.
also what is port mach in vents tab?
That will tell you if your going to have port noise or not, when says qes/pe thats your port size is wrong and the port will have turbulence.

i used the classic to play with 1st now im using the c 15 500w rms

should i be looking at the spl graph for overall loudness?

The spl chart will give you an close estimate to what you can expect the sub to produce. out of the car.

Ideally you want sub/enclosure to give you a flat frequency response, peaks in response are bad.

when you put the sub in the car, you will have what is called "cabin gain". which creates a large peak in response. its a natural bass boost. it usually starts at 70-80 hz and rises a lot in the lower frequencies. At 20 hz you can end up with well over 12db of cabin gain. (over double the output)

a box with a large peak in response and cabin gain together, will likely result in seriously terrible sound output.

so i am doing some more fiddling but i am still getting a good amount of gain unless i tune very low this time using hifonics hfid412

what do u mean ur getting gain?

yes wherever u tune u get a boost/gain in that frequency range.

it will never ever be flat unless u have an EQ because even if that graph looks flat, when u put it in ur car, ur going to get cabin gain, which is going to make it not flat again.

for example, my truck cabin gain peaks at 41hz, my box is tuned to 32hz, so basically from 30-45hz its boosted, and unless i use an EQ to bring that boost down, its always going to play those frequencies loudest.

I wish my truck peaked that low. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

ok...

now i am very confused hifonics manual for hfid412 says 2.5 cubes with 1 3inch round port ..why so low of port area???
