Or get a longer ground and mount it on the seat.. Its not the best option but better then the box
Right now I don't but eventually I'm going to try to. I could fit it on the side but I didn't want to screw into any of the stock plastic walls. I'd like to at least put it in front of the box towards the rear hatch if i could find a grounding point around there but there's just carpet mostly. Its deffinently not the best thing for any electronic. What about a peice of MDF on the side wall? And do you have that box bolted down, you want to when those sundowns get moving!
I was trying to stay away from screwing thru anything if i could that and a screw is less secure then a bolt. I'd love to find a better stock point to ground to. I hate mounting to seats because of the way they lean back and I really would like it to be behind the box hidden. Trying to think of what to do. Thinking of maybe under the rear seat if it will fit but idk how ventilation would be then.bet you theres metal under that carpet!
Mounting to the back of the seat is good. There's a few spots with some good steel in them so get some self tappers and go for it. If you flip up the rear seat and un-bolt a seatbelt, clean the paint off, those bolts make for good ground spots.I was trying to stay away from screwing thru anything if i could that and a screw is less secure then a bolt. I tried the seat belt bolts first but they were on so tight I couldn't loosen them right now its next to them on that metal piece seems to be working good. The onyl thing I am worried about on the rear of the seat is the fact that they tilt so the amp would be upside down a little and wouldn't it over heat because of that?Mounting to the back of the seat is good. Box looks good. Hope you have some bracing in there. I have had good luck with subs and ports back in my jeep. 35hz tuning sounds nice, but I find 40-42 gives a little more punch.
No it will not overheat being upside down.I tried the seat belt bolts first but they were on so tight I couldn't loosen them right now its next to them on that metal piece seems to be working good. I have ran a few different amps in that location without issue. it's closer to vertical than upside-down anyway and you should have a few inches between the amp and the box if you mount it low on the seat.I tried the seat belt bolts first but they were on so tight I couldn't loosen them right now its next to them on that metal piece seems to be working good. Wow that amp looks like a beast, also I love the fire extinguisher lol. I went with around 35hz for sound quality but I gave the ports an extra .5 inches so its technically prolly around 34hz does hit some nice lows tho but I really need to play around with settings more. Playing around with some new stuff myself, got a temp box in now that I'm throwing away this week (since the dump up here will let me unload anything), then will be rebuilding when I get back home. I'd like to put the smaller amp along the side wall too, but I agree it doesn't seem like there's really anything solid to mount it to and there's really no large flat surface to make it work.
Going to try to cram a pair of 18's and another Fusion 4K in mine somehow.
It should last longer. Its just a precaution!Ok I took it off the box and mounted it on on the passenger side rear seat the larger one seems to be pretty sturdy there.
Yea I was thinking about it the whole time it's funny tho we really were told to mount the amps to the backs of boxes at circuit city lol. I was weighing over heating vs vibration. It doesn't tilt that much but I know your not suppose to mount an amp upside down because the heat will not rise to the heatsinks. It should last longer. Its just a precaution!
They might of told you guys that because its faster and does not require muth thought.Yea I was thinking about it the whole time it's funny tho we really were told to mount the amps to the backs of boxes at circuit city lol. True, upside down is bad. For most big-box store installs mounting an amp to a box is safe (assuming 300-500W low end subs). Getting into high power/high performance, a lot of amps fail from vibration damage, also makes it much easier for thieves to grab the whole thing and go real quick.Yea I was thinking about it the whole time it's funny tho we really were told to mount the amps to the backs of boxes at circuit city lol.
