Enclosure for 2x Sundown Audio SA-12's

True, upside down is bad. For most big-box store installs mounting an amp to a box is safe (assuming 300-500W low end subs). Getting into high power/high performance, a lot of amps fail from vibration damage, also makes it much easier for thieves to grab the whole thing and go real quick.
That amp is a monster, does easily rated 4K at real world voltage and impedence and they have been clamped at around 10KW on 18V. Broke one of my subs day 1 testing, which is cool since I want to build them up with some different coils and go up to 18".... I wasn't really going easy on them.

I actually haven't checked what's under the carpet in the back. I had considered using some liquid nails and mounting a piece of ply right to whatever it is that I could screw things down into, but I can't afford the space and whatever I put in should be snug enough to not move around much. If you investigate under the carpet LMK what you find. My big fear with drilling into that area of any car is going into the gas tank or something else dangerous or important.
That's what I am afraid of too. I don't think I will need to bolt my box down the box itself was pretty heavy plus the subs are 62lbs.

Well they sound plenty loud the only problem I am having is with some rock and techno it seems like the subs are delayed or behind in the beat not sure what that is about. Not sure if it's group delay or what I went with the size box per sub that sa recommended although I didn't go 30hz but about 34hz I don't think that would cause it tho.

I'm not sure I like how the box I made sounds so I was thinking about maybe ordering something like this what do you guys think?
DUAL 12" PORTED 3/4MDF BLACK SUBWOOFER ENCLOSURE BOX | eBay
No definitely not, just rebuild your current box. It should be no more than $50 for wood, screws and glue. I would tune lower, closer to the recommended 30hz.

Does your box have bracing on the inside?

If you're gonna use pvc for ports, make sure to file/sand down the edges on the insides of both ends so theres not a hard edge that can cause port noise.

It's at 34.5hz right now I can't go any lower because the ports wouldn't fit if it was longer. I think rock and techno like higher tuning to hear the kick drum more. If I did 30hz the ports have to be 18.15" long which I can't get the depth or height without shrinking the width which would make the subs not fit.

You wont really be able to tell a difference of 1hz with the tune. Its when you change it by at least 3 is when you'll begin to notice imo.
Your probably right I think my last sub box was tuned to 38hz so I might go with something at that tuning, jsut trying to get that kick in my chest back lol.

Buy a custom box or just leave it alone. Pre-fab is garbage plain and simple. PM DonH or Pro-Rabbit and get a proper box built for them. Look to spend around $200 shipped and just go with a slot port. I am tuned to 33hz with my lpf set to 100hz. Rap, rock, techno makes no difference I can play all the notes up to 100hz with authority..

The construction I saw in the video looked really nice but yea i contacted them and they said their holes are actually larger then 11 1/16" so I wont be going with them. I can hit all the notes too but the drum kicks are just weak feeling where as in my old system I used to be able to feel them a lot harder. I'm also getting some kind of lag on fast songs not sure what it is tho everything is setup right, I've never had that problem before although i always had cars and the jeep they are a tiny bit farther away from me.

Got an updated pic I'm now firing them towards the rear definitely helped on the kick drum parts of rock.

I had RAM_Designs build me a box several months ago for two 12" Alpines, and boy did they kick. With the new car i got, hes designing me a new one that'll fit in the trunk, and i plan on buying a pair of these. Ill post pics when finished.

Not a bad install there...if you do decide you want to do another enclosure, just let me know and I will see what I can do for you. Buying prefab is a horrible idea 9 out of 10 times.
