Enclosure dimensions.

I looked on Kenwood's website to get the dimensions for a ported box for my subwoofers and this is what I came up with...

 

• Volume: 1.5cu.ft

• Width: 19-15/16”

• Height: 14-3/16”

• Depth: 12-5/8”

• Mounting Hole: 11-1/8”

• Slot Width: 1-3/8”

• Slot Height: 12-11/16”

• Slot Length: 18-7/8”

• Displacement: 0.157 cu.ft

 

I wanted to make sure that those dimensions are for the OUTSIDE of the box, and the INSIDE of the port.

Also, I have two of them, when I make a ported box for two subwoofers, do I make one huge port, or have them separated by a wall of MDF?

That box is 1.5ft^3 before sub displacement, which is too small anyways...and it's tuned in the upper 30's. I'd go for something like 2ft^3 at 32hz for a solid, all-around box.

I did kinda of want to build it a little bit bigger than specs, I like lower notes..

Would I still build the ports the same size?

No. Box volume, port opening size(cross-sectional area measured in in^2), and tuning frequency are the three variables that affect the length of the port. Change any one of those and the required port length will change as well.
