Im just curious of why don't more people buld boxes like sub sonic and I using more traditional methods?? I strongly recomend dado's or dove tails (if your capable or have the tools) since they create some of the absolute strongest joints period. I learned this from my dad who has be invloved in pro-audio for many many years. both recording, confrence, stadiums. and many of his tricks and tips have worn off on me.
but back to the point I'm just wondering why dont people take the extra half hour of labor to build a box using dado joints or the extra hour or two (depending on tools available) to use dove-tails or miter joints like sub sonic

Remember that traditional joining methods came about because of the poor glues of the day, the joint it's self had to hold the materials together.

With modern glues being so strong the wood it's self fails before the glue does, jointing isn't as necessary, also mdf doesn't lend it's self as well to fine jointing such as dove tails like "real" wood does.

You'll de-laminate the mdf it's self before a glued and screwed butt join fails (in reference to enclosure use).

In retrospec this is why i try to use baltic birch ply whenever i build a box that I plan i keeping for longer than two weeks sure its about 4 times the price of mdf for a 4x8 sheet but well worth it imho

I wish I could be more wordy because I am beyond floored at this. Its more than amazing. Its a gift man, I truly mean that. You by far outperform every other builder here and that says a good deal when we have excellent designers/builders such as the mighty 80!

Great job. Do you do this as a job? If so what kinda prices do you charge because I would love to buy one of your boxes.

lol no! i used to work at a very premire lumber yard out in the chicagoland area we stocked ebony, cocobola, zebrawood all that fun shit... But most of all that employee discount kicks some major *** 35% on already the lowest prices on lumber around and I can get anything i would ever want cut on their 100k panel saw for free

also can get stuff laser cut for nearly 80% less than it would cost anyone else .... personalized ports anybody???

for my real job I am a welder/fabricator.I build logging truck and flatbed

trailers for Doepker.....

I have been building enclosures on the side as a hobby and for extra cash

no its a panel saw

same saw the shop had but its not me in that picture

Nothing like being able to cut 4 sheets of 3/4 at once perfectly everytime
