Enclosure air space wiggle room?

I was looking at the specs for the 10" sub I have and it says the minimum and maximum sealed enclosure volume is .66. I was going to buy a pre-made box for it. The closest I have found so far is .70. Would this work or is that too much of a difference in volume? Or should I build one to the exact specs? I'm mainly a rock/metal type of guy so I'm trying to keep the sound tight (if that makes a difference). Thanks in advance!

You will be fine make sure you include sub displacement and any bracing in your final net volume. You can assume your sub will displace .1 ft^3 (per sub). A one cubed box(before all displacements) will get the job done. You can use extra materials(like a scrap piece of mdf) to displace more volume to get it exact.

Youll get basically similar sound no matter what. If you want. The sound tight and hard with a sealed box then you will need to have lots of power.

The sub is rated at 300 rms and 700 max. What would you power it with?

Thank you for the info! Let me also say that that the sub will be in the trunk of a 2007 Impala. Now, should I go sealed or should I run ported? I've read that sealed boxes hit a little tighter but aren't as loud.

Go sealed if you are going to buy a premade box. Custom ported can sound as tight as sealed no problem and is a looot louder. However you cant just buy a premade box on ebay or amazon thats labeled custom ported, it has to be specifically built for your sub and listening preferences.

For a 300 rms sub get a 400 to 500 rms amp but im sure a 10 is most likely not enough if you are a basshead that likes rock so get something that puts out 800 watts rms, youll most likely be getting another 10 in the future.
