I'm not all that surprised. Those kickers need a massive sealed box to get a smooth frequency response. Any time you stuff one into a prefab box that's got way too little airspace, you get a high Q 1-note wonder that will shake your fillings loose with the right music, but sounds like *** and can't hit any SPL at low frequencies.

Find something with a 30hz tone and play it in both cars. I'll bet your 15 will far outdo her 10" at 30hz even with your power deficiency.

lol, this is sort of what I was talking about in my internet company thread. Sorry, I know its painful, but the only conclusion is that your ed kv is a weaker sub (much weaker) than the kicker. No crazy box design is going to make that big of an improvement over the one you already have. Dump the ed and get something better.

sounds like your box is tuned for SQ NOT SPL and is tuned too low to get loud for regular music. Playa 30htz test tone (or some Bass Mixes) on hers then play one on yours... That 15 should have way more surface area and displacement.

I'm not sure as the size of my trunk is quite small. The Honda Civic trunks look pretty big but the way they are designed I had quite a time getting my box in there.

build the box inside of the trunk...you won't be able to take it out with takin' it apart but thats a solution

Buy 2 16kv2's, they're cheapish in pricing right? Buy an amp that can power them. I don't think her single 10 will keep up with that.

Or you could show her up by simply putting in music other than rap. Something that is more sq based and compare your systems.

He's using the reccomended ported enclosure, straight from the website, It doesnt get much better than that. Maybe if he took out all of his seats, and built a massive wall tuned to 45 or something retarded, but seeing that he is trying to beat a sealed 10", its kind of funny that he would have to do all of that.
