the sealed prefabs aren't so bad if teh sub is recommended for that amount of CF, but the ported boxes are usally way off, its just not made for the sub thats put in it usually.

I like Solos a ton, they bump hard. I am not an spl guy, but I have 2 old-school round kicker Solobaric 8's goin into my Si, and I can't wait. I ran one in a Dodge dakota with 150 watts and it pounded tight, but 2 with 500w of clean DLS power....can you feel the love? Of course the subs may **** compared to the new stuff out now, in which case they will go away in favor of a 10 or 12 something. I like the solos because they use really small box volumes. 0.33cubic feet per 8" for mine, nice for a Honda hatchback that you don't want to give up your trunk.

most prefabs aren't constructed properly... and use the absolute cheapest materials available.

Which system sounds better? Loudness isn't everything. Just baffle her with crap about displacement advanatages, low-end output, etc etc.
Or just tell her it'll sound louder with something in her mouth.

Theres nothing wrong with your setup? My 16kv2 was louder than many 2 12" setups(type r's, rf p1's, some cheaper soundstream subs). I know you have the older k but 1 10"? Thats some crazy stuff.

Two Type R 12's? Those speakers definately wang. I don't know if it's just me or the ED-k has a very loose suspension. I mean I can push on it just a bit and it starts flexing easily much like the home stereo 15's I used to have.

The Type R's seem to take more pressure to get them moving. Very tight suspension, and they seem to deliever a better bass response with less movement. That's what I liked about Memphis, be it 15, 12, 10 ... they have some super tight subs. You can get them pounding and they aren't even moving much.

This is my first ED sub, probably will be my last. I'm gonna look into DD, RE & Adire

Just tell her that you are trying to save your hearing because you want to be able to hear for a while more. But say it so she can barley here you, but she knows what you said. She will say "what" then you will have proved your point.

Or she will just get pissed, call you a pansy and leave....good luck with that.

wait wait wait, why hasnt anyone mentioned he is only giving it 500 watts!!. Hook up another amp to that bad boy, get it in a bigger, custom built ported box, and you will be twice as loud as her.!

Only? See this is what no one would tell me before I got the thing. The sub is rated at 350rms so I figured I'd throw around 500 at it.

How much can the '02 15 k (with the blue E logo) handle above it's rated wattage? Stumps me. All I got from ED is "that'll be more than sufficient".

Why don't you just let her ride in your car and hear that yours is not louder than hers and she can feel sorry for you and maybe you could get laid or she might just laugh at you silently in her head.
