Embarassed, Need Suggestions...

Which system sounds better? Loudness isn't everything. Just baffle her with crap about displacement advanatages, low-end output, etc etc.

Or just tell her it'll sound louder with something in her mouth.

make a new box if you can and it doesnt have to be 4 cubes btu 3 or 3.5 would be nice and tune up to liek 38.. even if its just to hold your own in this little contest.. its worth the cost of mdf haha
I'm currently checking my box for leaks. It's definately a solid box but anything can happen.

The thing is I was just shocked, because she actually wanted me to tweak her setup to hit better and man did that little 10 hit! The thing that sucks for me is when I told her I had a 15 she got excited and said she wanted to ride in my car from now on. Well **** what's gonna happen when I turn that thing on and it doesn't even stack up to a 10.

I feel that a lot of people out bump me, a lot, and I had a 15" Ti in a 4.3^3 box with 750wrms on it. But then I remembered, I actually know what I am doing, and I'm not sending some el cheapo, half *** setup dirty power. And that always makes me feel good.

thats terrible....i tihnk its time for an upgrade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
Exactly. I'm thinking 2 12's of something better than ED. I'm kind of an outsider so I'm sticking to internet brands.

The thing is when I first went to a car audio shop the guy told me the sub I was getting would sound like a mediocre 10 in my car. **** I guess he was right!

And what did he base that assuption on??

Wait a minute, I think you are being very closed minded and not looking at the truth. Have you ever thought about how she has more power than you, on a sub aimed more at spl than you, probably in a box aimed more towards SPL than you, in a vehicle that probably has better response than yours? Dont automatically blame it on the product, 99% of the time, it is install and the proper combination of components.

I suggest a new box as well, but man upgrade your amp, get some more power in there or something
I just went with ED's specs. I emailed them and they designed me a box, I built it and went with it. I'm also running a Profile AP1000 which is rated at 480W which is basically the max of the sub. When I asked around about more power handling when I bought this sub awhile back no one wanted to help because 1) it was an old sub and people seem to like to talk about the new stuff 2) everyone seemed to hate ED

I think a whole system upgrade is in order. I only went with that amp because I have a small 70 amp alternator and couldn't afford to upgrade at the time.

You're right and I'm not blaming ED. This IS an entry level sub. What I'm saying is there are other companies out there that gear their subs more towards SPL or SQL and can do it better than the ED-k.

Sure it's all in the install but her install is not anything to shout about. The box is prefab sealed, thrown in the car, sub slapped in and it pounds better than my 15.

When I emailed ED I told them I specifically wanted more SPL out of this box than anything. They designed it and said this will pound!! I've moved the box around plenty of times using ear and vibration to get the best bass response I could. Spent a week tinkering and as it stands right now I've got it hitting harder than when i first installed it.

Problem is, the box is big, it doesn't move around much .... maybe 8 inches from the end of the trunk and doesn't move back any further. Possibly a smaller box? maybe I don't have ample space in the trunk for the bass waves to expand?
