Electronic Crossover

I have been looking around for a good active crossover for some CDT or Rainbow drivers.

The ES-06 / W165SLC

The ES-04 / MR100

The ES-01 / Cal 25

First. What are your guys opinions on the divers. Which will give better quality. CDTS ES or Rainbows SLC.

Then for the x-overs.

Can anyone suggest some good ones. I dont want to go over 200 for the crossovers.

I looked at these.

The kicker seems like a much easier crossover to use and better for someone who is new to the active setup, but audio control looks like it has a much more precise unit. Any input is great and other x-overs / brands are welcome too. Thanks.

The Kicker doesn't off a bandpass for your midwoofer. That would require a mid that rolls off naturally up top and doesn't have any cone breakup. The AC unit uses resistors to change the crossover points. You need to know going in where you want your crossover points to be, and then you need to have a ton of resistors on hand to change your crossover points when you find out you're wrong with the initial ones.

I really like the Memphis ST-X03. Very easy unit to work with, and can be found on ebay for about half of the Kicker you posted.

Also, if you're going active, and haven't bought the drivers yet, you might want to consider the DIY route. It's MUCH, MUCH cheaper, and the quality is just as good.

Take a look at this website. It's dedicated to active tuning, and has a ton of reviews on drivers that absolutely excel in the cost to performance ratio.

Wow

CDT ES series and Rainbow Cal for tweeters are some of the best

I have personally auditioned the CDT audio ES02 and the 01 and let me tell you, i dont think there are many tweeters out there that can compete with these, im sure that the CAl28 tweeters and the Morel elate t52 might be close, the CAl28 might be a superior tweeter but hard to tell since its all up to the listeners prefererance. Another great tweeter for the buck would be the ID NXT30 i haven't auditioned it but everyone swear by it and probably last but not least the latest version of the SEAS lotus tweeter. I have heard the Focal utopia tweeter and its an amazing tweet nevertheless, i would probably take the CDT audio over it and for the money its probably best bang for the buck outside of the image dynamics tweeter.

The SEAS and the Rainbow for the money better spank my CDT audio tweeter. A system with these components better own my system and let me tell you im putting a heck of an SQ system together.

Good luck wth your Speakers, if you need good pricing on ES gold CDT i can get great deals on most

Why not just buy the alpine pxa h701 or the pxa h650 which is now out by the way, they are probably better than the active crossovers you are looking in to.

just my .002

Cost and application. Sure the H701 is versatile as all can get out, but I don't categorize it as a necessity for front stage + rear stage setup only and it's $400+.
