power useage monitor in case the link doesn't work... but I'm hoping to get at least one person to start shutting down their computer whenever not using it, unplug their cell phone charger while not in use. or unplug their TV while not in use. I don't intend on changing the planet or saving it, but if people catch on, it can make a difference... I actually do all those things already so for me, changes would be more drastic, I recycle cardboard at the dump on all the trips I make there. so I saw some stacks at work go into the dump and I'm fixing to get them out at recycle them :lol: YES, dumpster dive to recycle some free sh!t... but I'm also going to try to do some other small things too... I've been wanting to do a better solar system for the house, so maybe when I get my raise I will... we've had a solar water heater for years but not a full electrical system, I'm going to look into a constant feed system, where (if I have a large enough setup) my meter will backwards during the day, and forward at night. So I'll effectively bank kwh with the power company. I've actually watched one work and it was pretty cool... the house actually breaks even and doesn't pay an electrical bill besides the $8/month access fee. and the guy told me they have the system and space to add 3x the solar panels and the system will support it, but they don't think they'll get a backpay check from the electrical company. I kinda think he's stupid not to do it.. he'll be compensating for his neighbors possibly at least their daytime usage if nothing else... eh, you win some you loose some. I told him he should do it regaurdless of what it'll save/make him, they have the money to do it may as well help out...

so yeah, I'm just trying to do my part, hoping to convince someone who doesn't like to pay their electrical bill every month how to save energy. I hope Oprah does a show with these things that would help alot I imagine since every woman in america practically listens to her :lol:

I have always been interested in the solar power generators.

Be sure to post up if you do go to a more advanced electrical system and what type you do end up using!

BTW, I have a couple of those Kill-A-Watt meters and they are not only great for finding hungry power equipment they are fun to play with to...

Well I work for an Architect and i agree the trend is to go green these days

and with rising energy costs why not do what you can to save yourself money and help the environment at the same time, you would be amazed at how simple some things are to do and what it can save you

No because the H2 is a completely different vehicle than the Prius.

Electricity is electricity. If it is generated by wind, nuclear, coal, gas, or sun light.

It just seems sensible and logical to use solar power for 'free' electricity. First by lowering or almost eliminating a power bill. Two, by possibly having the option to sell back power to the power company. Three, to have almost no footprint on the environment. Four, to have more regular power with less noise than what comes from a large transmission system (always have the Hi-Fi in mind).

Oh yeah definently less noise across the wires if you are able to produce your own power either by wind or solar

the truck in my sig is indeed my truck... I obviously don't drive a prius... my truck has more balls than a slow azz H2... I've blown 2 rearends so I use the power...

my truck isn't stock and can pull 14's on the quarter mile with knobby 33"s... well 32.6"s if you want to be exact..

on the Six Degree's show, they stated the cheeseburgers consumed annually in the US alone is way more carbon than all the SUVs on the planet by a pretty large number iirc... so as much as I like to save the planet.. being my truck has tv's dvd and video games I don't drive my wifes turbo jetta 4 banger in ALOT of instances where I could/should. I didn't claim I was perfect. I said I'd like to start helping more than I do. that is all... if stupid is as stupid says. you my friend are as smart as you sound... I'm not much better, but at least I'm TRYING to make things right before I leave this planet.. my kid may not be around til it goes sour, but it does sometimes have things worth saving.. I personally don't believe people are one of those things... but being here and of native ancestry I have a love for my land and it's natural being and would give my truck, my job and even the house and nice HDTVs and stuff if I could take this island to where it was 4 years ago... alot of development has been done, beaches that were beautiful before are polluted with people..
