Electrical upgrades, but now its worse!

I cant ****ing win. I added a 180a alterstart alternator, upgraded 1/0 gauge, stock battery, big 3... all for a hifonics BX1500d. But my voltage drops are so rediculous, i swear my truck is going to stall. Does anyone have any ideas? Id like to get this taken care of!

what was your stock alt amperage? i had the bx1605d in my old mustang with stock 130 amp alt, no big 3 and shitty autostart battery and i never got voltage dips under 12 on full tilt

Sounds like you've made the proper upgrades, if you did the complete Big 3. Assuming your alt is functioning properly, you need to find out what RPM it needs. Some HO alts put out less current than OEM stock at normal engine idle speeds. Does the system work OK if you're driving down the highway? If so you will either have to up your engine idle speed and/or change out the belts and pulleys for the alternator so it can spin faster at low engine speeds.

Someone else said to do that too. Cause its perfect at even 750 rpms. My Tahoe sits at around 500. Do you know how to turn the idle speed up?
