Electrical questions and concerns

I'm getting ready to install my system in a few weeks and I'm starting to worry my electrical system won't handle it. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 180amp alternator. I don't know what the stock battery is but I am installing a Kinetic HC 1800 Blu. I'll be using a RF DSR-1 DSP, FSD 2600.1 to power 2 XFL 12s wired at 1 ohm, Soundstream TN4 900.4 to power active UN65s and TST-1 inch tweeters. I'm also considering adding a TN2 600.2 to run some mid base 6.5s (ssa evils) in the rear. The monoblock will be installed with 1/0 CCA wire and the speaker amps will have 4 gauge. I'm installing the new battery with a relay and 2/0 welding wire. I asked my local shop about the big 3 and they said it wasn't worth the trouble in my vehicle because the battery is under the passenger seat?

Cna anyone reinforce or rebuke that statement? And will I have enough power for my setup?

My future goal is to run two 15s or one 18 so I plan on upgrading the alternator but that's a year or two down the line.

The big 3 is almost a must and with an 180a stock alt you might be alright with a big agm under the hood and or an extra battery by amp, I would install amp and check voltage drop before upgrades

You'll need at least double the battery and yes you need the big 3. Need a large charging cable, ground the alt case, and ground battery to body. That battery is only good for 180o watts. I'm running it in my car and with 280amp alt and 3200 watts the voltage still jumped a bit until I put more battery in.

****. That's a lot of battery. I'm putting them near the amp as there's no room under the hood. So suggestions so far are do the big 3 and get another 1800 batt?

Well it sounds like you have about 3500 watts. I'm using the kinetik 180o and 4 small 13ah batteries because space was limited. That was enough to stabilize the voltage. I ran just the kinetic and a 140 amp alt on 2000 watts and it was barely enough. Also my car barely has any current draw on the charging system. Your jeep likely will have a lot more than mine.

Also, I've had my kinetik for 5 years and no issues. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah I imagine it does too. It's loaded with electronics. I'm just confused as to why a battery runs a tenth of what they claim yet it is still rated so highly

I bought this one used. I think it's 7 years old so...

Yeah that confused me too at first. But it is only rated for 1800 watts. It must be something to do with how must burst power is available. That batt is 75ah. I'm running about 130ah for 3200 rated rms watts and it's perfectly stable so maybe use that as a guide.

Funds wise I feel this is the best option.
Good idea!

I wouldn't be going back to that same shop again.

A lot of us know here that it takes power to make power. Big 3 is one of the most important upgrades to an electrical system when adding aftermarket electronics and draw amperage from battery/alt.

I didn't really plan to. My only problem is the only other audio shop in my area is top 50 in the country (mobile edge in lehigh valley) which means I'll pay through the nose.

^^Agreed.
I've decided to upgrade my alternator regardless of whether or not I have enough juice. I eventually want to run 15s so I'll need it down the line anyway and right now I'm getting a lot of overtime at work so I think its the best time to do it. I'm going to most likely get a JS between 300-350. Now, my question is with getting such a big alt will I still need to add extra batteries? I'm still slightly confused on the whole "Alt to charge, battery for power/reserve" concept. Does it mean that regardless of the alt size I have I still need batteries with enough AH to keep up with the constant power draw? Or will a 350alt along with a single 80ah kinetik be able to keep up with all 3 amps plus more once I go to 15s? Would probably switch out the FSD for something between 3500-4K at that point. This is still going to be my daily driver so I'd rather not make my car look like an amateur db competition car with batteries and wires all throughout the bay
