ok heres the setup.

89 mustang gt

good battery, good alternator (12.67 idle, 14.54 above idle)

alpine 310 screen

phoenix gold 500.2 amp

2 kicker l5 subs

first of all, i have noise comming through my subs. could that be caused by the power wire passing by the coil (drivers side). if i wire it away from the coil (passenger side) that should fix that correct? also, when i have my lights on at night, the subs start to go nuts (going off on their own, rapidly). could that be caused by that power wire going by the coil too? what other ideas do you think the problem could be. i could take the car back to the shop, but id like to fix it myself. thanks

I've seen this same thing and this is what I think it is.. Check your crossover settings on the amp and on your deck.. Use one or the other, not both.. Set your LPF slope on the 310 to FLAT and set the LPF on your amp to ~100hz.. Give that a try before you go any further and let me know how it goes..

i talked to my installer and he said try upgranding the factory grounds, i did and same problem. he said the crossovers are def. not the problem. i think its the power wire because it goes by the coil. hes gunna route it a different way on saturday....so we'll see

apparently there is interference w/ my bottle heater for my nitrous. does anybody make insulation that i can cover the wires w/ so that i can still use the heater?
