Hey guys im just a few weeks out from my build being completed and I currently think im pretty set with the electrical i hope for 2 new style kicker kx2400.1s and a ix500.4 and a 75.2. Roughly 5k rms and 450 amp current draw or so. Currently i have sitting a new xs chrome 150 amp alt.(not installed) (build is for an 81 elco) I do have installed Both under the hood a xs d3400 and a d1200.(small 3.1l motor plenty of room) I also have sitting and think i may throw in the small size cab is a xs xp750 and my real question here is with that what ive listed in mind how am i sitting for someone who enjoys daily pounding at full tilt for 10 plus minutes. Inside the cabin i am fitting the amps and a already build fiber glass encloure box. I am having built a custom center console(where i think the xp750 will be and a xs vcm module. Would you guys add anything else like a capcell or even a 10 farad cap? i know most times the cap answer is no but thats usually people asking who already dont have any batteries in line which im kinda average i think for what im asking for. Any suggestions here would be great thanks!

you probably would want to do a dual alternator setup or get a 320-400 amp alt. 1-200 farad Capacitors are garbage useless so dont even waste anymore time talking about it. If you have that much money to buy a bunch of stuff, dont cheap out on the alt.

You need 55 amp hours for every 1000 watts so match it up. Make sure you do the big 3 upgrade too, all that power is useless if it doesn't have a means of travel.

what subs are you planning on running?

To give you an idea, I am planning on 5K RMS (2 SAZ 2500s) next summer and was going to run a Deka G31 under the hood and 4 in the back, maybe more accompanied with a 280 amp alternator.

You're going to have hard time with that kind of power on just a 150A alternator unless you throw in hella batteries, but even that will help so much. You can't make the power if you don't have the source.

I would say atleast a 250 amp alt, 3 good g31's, 2 pos and 2 neg runs, and of course big 3. Im doing a 275 alt, 4 runs, 320ah battery for 5k. Right now on a about 2000 rms I hold 14-13.5 at the lowest with a 90 amp alt and 220ah of battery.

When running 5k+ if you are wanting to stay at the 14volt or higher range, you will need dual alts. Honestly 350 amp alts never really give you that real world, and two-3 of them are gonna cost a lot. What you do is run a big battery bank. Don't stress over playing at battery resting voltage. I have a big bank, and one alt. The alternators job is to charge the batteries, not charge the amp. Highway driving you may keep up the voltage better but at red lights, cruising town, demo.. Don't count on your alternators, count on your battery resting voltage. My opinion for 5kw... h/O alt, and 3 group 31's or better. When your voltage starts going below resting voltage, then back off the gain and let the alt charge te batteries.

Most of those demos you see on YouTube are at or close to battery resting voltage. Unless you got like 3 alts or better with 5kw+ your not gonna stay at charging voltage

I had someone custom build me an alternator that does 205 amps at 1300 rpms before it drops below 13.9v. That has kept up with my 7k+ system for a few years. I have 3 Kinetik batteries. A 1400 up front and two 2400's in back. Any high rated alt is wasted money if it can't put out a lot at low rpms. I don't blast it often anymore (half the time my sub's are not even installed) but when I want to bust out some show off time my electrical keeps up. The main thing for me I think is the 0 awg big 3 and multiple runs of OFC 0 awg to the back. Good fast flow = good fast power.

for sure man. I have a space for a dual alt and may do dual matching chrom xs 150 HO alts. and see if from there im a bit better off. The thing is i have a bed of course but i opted not to do a blow through because i use my bed for my dirtbike and same thing for making a little battery tray back there. Would rather not so more amps coming from dual alts would be a first option before anything custom in the bed.

Also do any of you guys know anything about the xs voltage control module? i think it will sync with my xs alt being there the same brand and from there i can adjust voltage on the fly? I use to have the mla module and really liked it . Does anyone know if i can get have it charge at a floating 15 volt or higher.

for sure thanks man. Also to mention im running the amps at 2 ohms being the kicker amps are only 2 ohm stable. Also a bit of reference for me my last system years ago was 2 kicker zx2500.1s on a 225 ea alt and 4 in total including the 1 under the hood yellow tops. I never remember dropping below low 12s during a couple minutes of slamming.

Also to answer some other questions. I do have the big 3 and 2 runs of kicker hyperflex 0 gauge.
