Hello, I am new to this forums and I would say car audio. I own a 2010 chevy cobalt LT 4 door with 2 12in American bass Xfl subs running off a audiopipe 2000w aspm amp and the big three upgrade. Now I do have very little but of dimming after about one or two songs full blast but that is it. I was wondering if I should get another battery or not? Would it help. Then also could my car handle any more without upgrading my alt? I don't want to buy a bunch of parts that can't be moved from car to car since I'm going off to college and leaving my car in Ohio with my parents. Thanks for the help just ask if I left something out.

Just get an HO alt it will be easier and it's the next step int he process. You're going to have to add wires and stuff for batteries so just spend the $400 on an HO 1st .After that if you want to go big add batteries jmo.

Get the H/O alternator first.

However if everything is all fine and dandy to you and you do not have an extreme bass addiction or urge to constantly go louder and bigger like most these guys in here, then a 2ndary battery would do just fine to stop headlight dimming. Just get the biggest AGM you can and wire it parallel with an inline-fuse/circuit breaker

Actually, just monitor your voltages with a Digital multimeter with hard hitting songs on full blast, if its dropping around 12 volts, you'll probably only need a good AGM in the front. If you are dropping below 10 or 11, thats a call for an alt upgrade. Doesnt have to be a high output alt, you can just get your alt rebuilt to handle more power.

Okay I will monitor my voltage then see what I need to do. I know I'm not going bigger until I graduate so no worries on that. Thanks for the help guys

With my stock alt I wouldn't be able to get an more power would I? Like 2500w?
