update: got my car back today from the alt shop. guy said everything was fine with the alt. he said it was doing about 220 amps at 1200 rpm. so i got home and checked my alt. full tilt i was only dropping to 13.6 at the alt but i was dropping to the low 12's at my bass amp. if the alt is fine and batts are new what could be the problem?

Grounds are bad / insufficient.

how are your wire connections made? Did you crimp them or half *** bash them with a hammer? maybe you have some loose connections that are causing the voltage drop.

I usually don't have a huge crimp... so I hit it with a hammer. But I make sure I get everything nice and compact... then I solder the hell out of it.

Grounds are bad / insufficient.

I have a run of ground from front to back and each battery is grounded to the chassis in the back. My bass amp is grounded to one of my batteries. Should my bass amp have its own ground?
