I have a dd z1 wired at .5 in my blazer. It has 4 new 2400's and 2 positives and 2 negatives from the front to back, big 3 done, 200 amp ohio gen alt, and i also added another ground from back batteries to frame in the back. So my problem is, when i turn it up my amp will go into protect because it hits 12 volts. I think its strange that it goes into protect when it hits 12v, i thought they would run lower. Also why is my system dropping to 12v in the first place? Amp shouldnt be drawing that much from 4 2400's and a 200 amp ohio gen should it?

Thoughts?

Your question is sort of flawed. The batteries might float higher than ~12.6v but they don't really discharge any significant amount of current above there. What does this mean? While you're above 12.6v you're on alt power. As your alt can't keep up, your batts aren't discharging until the voltage gets to their resting voltage which again, is around 12.6v. If your amp is protecting at this voltage, could you possibly have a modded or high voltage model that is supposed to run at 16v?

hmm good question. as far as i know it isnt modded? i wouldnt know what to look for to see if its modded. Any idea what to look for? I recently bought this amp off spy. Guess ill message him and see what he says

I really don't have a clue as far as looking at the board. SPY would know and is a reputable person so I would say he'll shoot straight with you. If it's not that, I would say try running at 1 ohm and see if it still does it.

I just swapped amp out for a mojo 4kw and its still dipping really low. had the ohio gen alt checked out and it comes back fine. . ive checked all my wires and connections too and everything looks good

What is the resting voltage (ocv) on the batteries? If it is under 12.8 volts on the khc2400's then the alt isn't keeping them charged. I have seen that amp pull down 250 amp alt set ups with 4000 watt + rated batteries get pulled down below 11.5 volts in under 20 seconds and I have actually seen it go up in smoke.

My resting voltage is 12.74 according to my meter. When im at 2k rpm im seeing 14.2 ish volts and as soon as the bass hits i drop straight to 12.5 and then it goes down from there.... I have the front battery grounded to the frame and the bracket that holds the alternator on. I used both stock grounding locations i just changed them to 0 gauge. I also added another ground in the back that goes straight down to the frame.
