anyone running these? what kind of electrical are you using?

i have one sundown 3000d now, and in the jeep i was gonna use that and either A) buy another, or B) sell it and buy 3-4 audiopipe 3000ds. i know the sundown is better obviously, but its not for the MINI, its for in the jeep, just need some power, dont need to go all crazy on top notch shit (even though im gonna be running sundown subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

Definitely not for daily He would need a min of 2
ive been running my sundown 3k @ .5 on stock electrical in my mini cooper and NO issues whatso ever. single SMALL battery and a 105a alt.

the whole HO alt thing i do not agree with, and will most likely never buy a HO alt for any car i own.

reason behind that is, say you have 4 amps that draw, lets say...1400 amps at full tilt (all amp combined)

a 300a alt is just going to help charge the batteries back a TAD bit faster...the only way i agree with HO alts is if you're running quad 300 amps like meade or the few others that have quads. i dont see the point other than a little bit faster charging time to only run one or even 2 alts. waste of money IMO. the stock alt will still charge them, just a little slower

So the sundown amp is 100% efficient?

Your def not gettn 3k outta your amp then..

Thats atleast 300 amps of draw...

For 4 I would use 2 300 amp alts and 8-9 g31 batts
1 alt would be fine

6 pd 2k's @ .35 daily w 6 125ah batts and a 200 amp alt sits around 13.4 on music...

how am i not getting 3000+ out of my amp when my voltage stays at or above 12v?

last time i checked, sundown rates there amps at or around 12v, so if im at that voltage, how do i not get 3000w+?

Just because it's rated at 3k doesn't mean ur getting 3k. Factor in impedence rise and ur getting 1500-2000 if not less

X2 yes, it's not possible to run it at 1/2 ohm (true impedance) on a wimpy 105a alt and a little battery and get full power. I'd love to see you clamp it and prove it since your so sure. You must have a really high box rise.

Dropping an amp to 1/2 ohm doubles the output current (up until the amp just can't put out more at least) and makes everything less efficient so the power supply in turn draws more current, often times inducing more voltage drop which calls for MORE current to maintain the same output level - again, turning into a cycle if it continues until something fails

From sundown himself, so in other words unless you have the power to back up half ohm you shouldn't do it.
