efficient sub

I need a real efficient sub running at 2 ohms off my tiny factory amp. The factory sub is a 2 ohm pioneer running free air. I don't think its getting much power so I'd like to find an efficient sub and build an efficient enclosure (ported) to get the most out of the stock amp. What do you suggest?

not sure what the factory amp is rated at but I wouldn't guess over 100 watts rms. I don't plan on spending much on a sub with high power handling because it would be a waste of money. I need a cheaper sub that will make the most out of the power I have. I want one 10" and have plenty room.

A pioneer low powered sub will do the trick. They have one that is rated at 125watts rms and its extremely efficient. It will bump with about 100watts.

Well, it should tell you how loud a speaker will get with 1w @ 1m in infinite space (or a close approximation there to). However, a lot of companies like to test their speakers at 2w, or at .5m, or in a car....all of which will make the numbers completely meaningless and useless for comparison purposes. So, the number alone doesn't tell you a whole lot without knowing what methods they used to arrive at that number.

Also, they can not be used to determine which will ultimately be louder overall.

a very efficeint sub is a memphis m3, with 95%
It's not 95%, it's 95db (at a certain frequency, power level, distance and enviornment).......HUGE difference between the two. Most subwoofers are less than 1% efficient.

But, again, that 95db is only really useful if you know measurement methods.

i notice most pro audio midrange and tweets have a db of atleast 96db's....the most i've seen was 110db's and that was a bullet tweeter....the most i've seen from a sub was 98db's at 1w/1m

80

Resonant Engineering RE8 or RE10 should suite you nicely. Dual 4ohm coils, so they can be wired to 2ohm.

Don't have an insanely high sensitivity rating. But, running one of those IB shouldn't require more than 100w (if even that) to reach full potential.

really efficent, low wattage, those new JLv1's i think they are, 300w max

real efficent high sensitivity, mtx's bottom line, what is it now 5500 series or somthing?

or if you can round up a little more power the MTX jackhammer engine lift not included

i would also recommend just running another free air. Subs require almost no power when run IB, look into the IDv3s I was quite impressed with them IB for around 100. I also believe the new ED K's are free airable (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif) and they are pretty cheap and supposed to be nice.
