I really dont know jack about car audio insurance. How many of you all have your equipment insured? Roughly what kind of price range are we talking about if the equipment is worth 1-2k? Does anyone know if Progressive insures car audio? I do have a full 2 way alarm installed. Do you have to have everything installed by a shop to get insurance? if so Im fvcked because I would never pay a shop.

Thanks.

You probably can have it installed yourself, but I think you'll want receipts to provide for the insurance company so they know what they're dealing with.

The only way to find out is to call your insurer. They are the only ones who can give you a rate on that.

They reward your efforts to keep it safe and identifiable. You have a better chance of both recovery and getting paid off if you can prove the equipment is etched in a spot that you have to know it is there to look. They figure they might recover it down the road to auction if so.

I have a ton of pictures of all my gear. Granted it is nothing to special to the average person but I tend to like it considering I paid for all of it. I contacted my ins company and thy said that it has to be bolted screwed or attached some how to the car. I got $3000 in coverage for a extra $4.00 per month. I do not know if that has something to do with the 5 cars house life and fire ins. that we have. Best thing that I would suggest is go and talk to your ins agent. They will be the best to help.

Get a monster of an alarm system, I mean the works, all kinds of sensors glass break, field disturbance, multiple horns, backup battery, ect. Thats about your best bet if you cant get it covered under your auto insurance.

well I have all of that, but still. for a couple bucks a month id still rather get it insured. if they cant insure it, ill be moving on to another insurance company. TONS of them available.

Just make sure you have comprehensive insurance, with no deductible, and for actual value.

I wouldn't mention how much you necessarily have unless explicitly asked. I once mentioned the declared value for a vehicle of mine and a company refused to insure me because of the value compared to their value of my vehicle.

Geico I believe allows up to 5K or so with no extra tacked on, just call and tell them what you have. Im bad with receipts though, last time I had to stop by a shop where I bought stuff and get fresh copies.
