EDead deadening = good price

the V1^2 is ok for everything but the roof and the V1SE^2 is good on the roof but the loquid Is great for the inside of your doors easy to work with
Wrong. No matter where you put it the Mylar backing is going to pull away from the Butyl 90% of the time. Its already been shown on multiple failures posted all over the internet.

The edead liquid is ok. Unless you compare it to SS Spectrum, lizard Skin or Cascade VB-1. The edead has alot more water content than the others. This also causes you to have to use more coats of edead than the others so where is the cost savings now.

I have compared edead to Spectrum and Cascade VB-1 and its not even close.

Good information - just to add a few points. The Mylar isn't just a delamination problem (and that has been primarily an issue with the v1²). There are fire concerns, but beyond all of that, it is much less effective than aluminum foil, both for damping vibrations and for blocking sound. You pay heavily for the few pennies you might save.

Asphalt formulas don't actually have any butyl content - they use SBR rubber to stabilize the asphalt. ED wasn't able to get away with calling their old asphalt products butyl - they tried and were called out on it - they relied on confusing terminology to confuse consumers into believing there was butyl content. Here's the post on ECA where Ben Milne falsely claims his products were butyl.

It is correct that the Edead liquids contain more water than Lizard Skin, Second Skin Spectrum and maybe Cascade, but I haven't tested their compounds. eDead is cheaper by the gallon, but more expensive per unit of cured deadener.

even with it having more water, the bright blue makes it a ton easier to track progress

and point out small mistakes where you went to close to trim panels lol

Cascade and SS do the same as far as color changing when wet and dry also to see where you need to apply.

Why would you want bright blue if you put it to close to a try panel. It will just make it stand out more from your mistake unless you clean it off quick. BTW edead liquid comes in blue and black.

I prefer black alot less likely to be seen against any interior color but blue.

We all have our preference I just prefer the better brands. Vertex(VMSP), SS, Cascade, Raammat, Dynamat makes great products also just get a little to pricey.

Hello Don
Was wondering when you would chim in to point out all the stuff that I missed.LOL
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Not much to add really, just a few details almost didn't post. 2 years ago you could count on every forum having a new thread every day claiming that FatMat was the same thing as Dynamat. Glad those days are gone and we can discuss the finer points.

I'm going to have to get hold of some of Cascade's liquids to see how they compare. I'd expect good things. Second Skin seems to have jumped ahead of the others I've seen with the new version of Spectrum. Very advanced stuff.

I got more VB-1 on the way. Its kinda toss up between the VB-1 and Spectrum got a better deal on the VB-1. So I will use the rest of my Spectrum on the truck.

On the Cascade you probably already have a hook-up but might give FoxPro a shout sure he can get some Cascade for testing or atleast a super cheap price.

I have used the ED in my doors and had the problem with it actully coming unstuck inside the door so when i rolled my windows down the butyl rubber/ or asphalt would stick to my window, and it was a ***** to get off.

I really thought the old asphalt mat had some butyl in it, are you sure it didn't Don? Im confident that was an excuse used by Ben... at least one of the excuses... that their mat had slightly more butyl in it than 'standard' asphalt mat, hence he made the butyl claims.

So far as Im concerned, Ben got away with it. He flat out lied about his product, in order to sell more. It would be like bold faced lying about the specs of an amplifier you made. If you sold 1000 watt amplifiers that really only put out 500 watts, you would be run out of town on a rail (or sold exclusively at flea markets). Ben hasn't been run out of town. In fact, all he did was get off his lazy *** and play catch-up by finally coming out with a butyl mat when called on it (and inferior at that), and now we have posts like this, where people STILL contemplate buying his snake oil. To me, that's getting away with it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Always good hearing from you Don. Cheers.

Shit thing although he upgraded to Butyl to back up his claims. The Mylar crap he is using junk vs. using foil back. He is still cheaping out with a product that is prone to failure. Will he ever learn.

You are correct people will still buy ed no matter what they are told and I just don't get it myself.

I don't hate ed but I don't like them either. Will not spend my money with them.

The sad/funny part is, with Elemental Designs all you have to do is mention the facts, and it becomes 'hate'. Hate would be getting all emotional over it. Stating facts is not hating.
Yes, even his new butyl product is radically inferior to competent products it competes with. Is that really any big surprise? What I dont understand, is all the people who refuse to believe he uses this cheap-at-any-price attitude on his other products as well. Personally, Id steer very clear of anything associated with Ben Milne or eD.

I might be getting to this trhead a bit late, but I'd also suggest looking in to Rammat bxt for a great budget damper.

Rick has good customer service and a nice product. Since he has changed it over to buty (about 2 years ago I think) I have not heard a single complaint..

Hard product to beat!
