Eclipse CD7000 tuning help...

I just purchased the new Eclipse CD7000. I am trying to enable the 3-Way Speaker mode, in the Sound Setup on the unit. When I select, "3-Way Spk", and select ENTER, then RTN. The system still does not go into this mode. When I go back to Speaker Select, it still shows "4 Speaker + Sub".

Also, when I go into the PEQ, I only see 7 bands, instead of 11 bands. I have tried to enable/disable the CSII. Turned it ON and OFF, with no difference to the 3-Way Speaker selection.

ECLIPSE CD7000

SUB: 2x JL 10W3v2 - JL 500/1 Amp

Rear: Infinity Kappa 6x9 - 350w Amp

Front:Infinity Kappa 5.25 - 250w Amp

Everything is wired correctly, and all the speakers work, even in 4 Speaker +SUB mode. But I want the full 11 bands to work!

any help appreciated.....

OK, this is really ticking me off. I heard back from Eclipse support about this, and this is their reply...

"It's kind of tricky. You have to make sure you do not tilt the dial in doing so activates another button. press it again if it does not take the first time."

"You have to hold down the center button for more than 5 seconds until it says ok, than press it again. That sets it permanently until you do the same thing to go back to the previous selection. "

OK, wtf, come on, why is this so hard to set on this system? I've tried everything, using different methods, etc., and I still can't get the thing into 3-Way speaker mode.

The **** dial on this thing really sucks balls!

well he's right. you do have to hold that sound button i believe for more than 5 seconds to set it.

also, why do you want to go into 3 way mode? just looking at your system, there's really no reason to into 3 way mode. going into 3 way mode basically means are doing one of two things: 1) you are going active (which seems to be you are not) 2) you are biamping a set of components so that you are able to indepedently control both the mid and tweet from a t/a and PEQ standpoint (again which to me doesn't seem like you are doing).

i see no reason why you would want to use pro mode unless you get rid of that rear fill. in 3 way mode you activate the low pass for subs, bandpass for mids and high pass for tweets. the way your system is setup you probably need to HP at least the 6x9 and the components.

also are you using the passive crossovers that come with your component set?

Oh really?, wow ok, I didn't know that. I thought I was just missing the additional 4 bands in PEQ.

Yes, I want to keep my rear fill just the way it is. And actually, I've got it sounding pretty good. I just read in the manual, that the 3-Way mode has more settings, and the 4-Speaker mode was just a basic setup.

I guess I'll just leave it alone. Yes, I have the front Infinity components hooked up with the crossover.

Thanks alot for your advice!

yea with the way your system is setup, just keep it normal mode. and yes 3 way mode does have more tuning options but as i said, you would only do it if you are going with a setup with the two options i stated above. good luck.
