ebay seller sold me a blown hk4000d! so i did this!

When i put as is when im selling it basically means no returns...but I will guarantee it not to be DOA. I personally think as-is is a slick way to scam somebody becuase u will basically know if something works or it doesnt and if it has a few obvious problems that should tell you it doesnt work...HINT: Scratching noise when u push down on the cone! If u cant test an item then say so and let it be known without beatn around the bush...

I never said the guy was an idiot, or called him any kind of name. I simply said that I wouldn't have done it, and that he should have known better...especially due to the seller and what was described in the auction. I really don't see anything negative about that.
Nor did i single you out i didnt call any name but hey im out

would this be considered a FAIL thread??
the OP had a FAIL, either blowing the amp up or infact receiving a blown amp, but then consulted paypal and turned his dillema into a WIN. so what would the thread be??

could we get some insight and consultation from FAIL theorists??
25min after it was delivered and opened for inspection by me, i was at the shop to have them test it on video. i have sold the system out my car and have not begain the install in my van. i had nothing to hook the amp to to blow it with. and just an hour or so after delivery i filed claim and escalated it. i'm sure paypal looked at the time frame when they made their desission. my feadback and refs can speak to wheather or not i'm a strait up person to deal with. like i said, i got away with buy and hk4000d on ebay from a buyer with 0feadback 2 yrs ago and everything went smooth. got it for 200 shipped. i guess i thought i could catch another deal this way. hine site 20 20 we all know better.

People always forget that it goes both ways. You have to be a responsible buyer. I mean if you're expecting to find honest responsible sellers online especially on ebay forget about it. It's up to the buyer now a days to be smart and research before buying things online especially with something this expensive. Yes the OP got screwed but let's look at the mistakes he made as well. First thing he definitely should've done was ask the seller the condition of the amp and if it was working. He also should have asked for some pics of the actual amp he was buying because the ones on the listings don't look legit. Buying something expensive from someone online that has no feedback is one of the dumbest things you can do IMO. This just goes to show how cheap people are now a days. They see something for a deal that looks "too good to be true" and they feel like they are getting a great deal. In actuality they are about to get scammed and it is clear as day. People let their cheapness cloud their judgement. I would rather buy something for a reasonable price from someone who has good feedback or references than buy something dirt cheap from someone with no feedback or refs. I can't understand people now a days.

you coudl sell something 100% working, list it as-is, only because you dont know which idiot is going to buy it and try to install it with + and - backwards.

That is the reason i woudl sell something as-is, not because its not working, but because some idiot may be installing it and would blow it.

Bad buyer imo.

all this common sence hit me the min i looked inside the amp. up till then i was blinded by the thought of getting a sweet deal from a seller that other buyers were not willing to take a risk on because he had no feadback. that was my thinking and i maded no bones about it. even in my paypal claim. just so long as the amp worked. and made neibors move and made all the power the seller said the amp will do. lol

one more leson learned for all of use to learn from.

truthfully, did you ask the seller even one question about the amp?

yes but, came accros the auction right near the end. it was a now or never type thing. look at the bid history. i wasn't like i had been bidding, watching and waiting for the auction to end.

x3.

you should watch what you buy i say also, use common sence. the buyer and seller were both kind of wrong. the buyer for not using common sence and the seller for misleading buyers.

how much do you think this amp would of sold for if the seller honestly sold it as not working or did one of those untested as is auctions?

it is the sellers duty to describe the amp in its condition. he makes it sound as though the amp is working. so you mean if i sell something on this site in the classifieds and state what this seller did about the amp and it turns out not to work that i will not be considered a scammer and bad seller and should not have to refund money? hmmm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

the seller never said the item was working nor did he say it wasnt working. Giving you the benfit of doubt that you wouldnt blow the amp and then blame this guy i'm glad that paypal is favoring you. But i am disappointed in you as a buyer. Why didnt you ask questions? As-is should raise a flag anytime i see that and i even think about purchasing i ask a ton of question i usually ask for a guarantee that the item wont be doa. Maybe he didnt know it was blown. None the less you shoulda did your homework before buying this and you shoulda tried to work it out with him before filing a claim with paypal he might have owned up to the mistake and refunded you.

man yall some of the stupidest @ssholes ive seen in a long time. first off how in the hell is the op supposed to know if the amp were going to be blown? so why would he even make an mf video opening the amp i bet half you mf never even did that yourself. bottom line is the op gave the guy the benefit of the doubt by buying it As is. and common courtesy would have told the guy to at least mention that the amp wasn't working. i cant believe some of you guys are actually making it look like the op fault. boy if i could meet only half of you guys in person. Shaking my Head.
