easy questions for new install? headunit and flip down monitor

I'm about to put in a Pioneer avic x930bt and a dp video flip down monitor. I have several beginner questions.

1. I need to run a wire from the Pioneer harness to the reverse gear circuit. The wire on the pioneer harness is tiny around 22 gauge. I have some 16 gauge wire. Is there any downside to soldering the 16 to the 22? resistance or ???

2. The DP video flip down on has 2 wires coming off. Black and red. Power and ground. Where is the best spot to wire these up. I was going to ground the black wire to the roof cross member where the flip down mounting bracket goes. BUt where should I wire the positive to??? I'm not really near a dome light (but I could pull the headliner down further). Should i add a wire and bring it all the way down to my fuse box? Or tap it into the red wire of the Pioneer head unit?

The instructions say: Power Consumptioin 8W MAX

and again - can I use the thicker wire to extend the 4 inches of 22 gauge the manufacturer left me.

I'm installing this in a 2005 honda odyssey ex-l

thanks

There is nothing wrong with soldering those two sizes together, as for the flip down if it were me I would grab power from the same spot as the HU, its an easy ignition and you know it will be above 8W (assumably), I would also try and keep from grounding on the roof... go to HU ground for it to...just to be safe
