DVC in series x 2

I have a 4x80 RMS amp (mrv-f540) that I'm using for fronts and sub. First two channels power the front mains. My plan was to bridge channels 3 and 4 to a single coil 200RMS sub (alpine sws-1041). However, I'm finding that I can get two 1041D's (dual 4ohm voice coils) for the same price as a single 1041.

Can I wire both coils in series for an 8 ohm impedance, then wire the two subs together in parallel for 4 ohms total on the bridged channel?

My understanding is that the 2 x 80 bridged = ~240 watts (2.5x single channel power). Alternatively, could I wire a single 300 watt Type R dvc in parallel and then run that off the bridged channels at 2 ohms? I'm guessing that would give enough power for that sub. Would that cause problems with the other 2 single channels giving 4 ohms to the front speakers?

Thanks

Yes.

Only if the amp is 2ohm mono stable.

Your best bet is to keep a 4ohm load on the bridged channels 3&4 if the amp is not 2ohm mono stable. You can look for a dual 2ohm sub or run 2 dual 4ohm subs (might be underpowered though). By hooking a sub to an amp that also powers your speakes, you may find that the sub takes away power from you speakers...at least I did.

I felt confident (after speaking to an Alpine engineer) about running a single 4 ohm 200 watt sub on the bridged 2 x 80 channel - but what happens when I run two dual 4 ohm subs wired for 4 ohms on that bridged channel?

Do two (of the same) subs wired for 4 ohms need more power than a single 4 ohm sub?
