Double runs

How much benefit will i get from adding another power run and another short ground to my back battery in 1/0? I have an AQ2200 with a stock up front battery, 134ah C&D in the back, and 2 of the big 3 done (alt and battery neg to chassis). Really want to stay away from clipping

Whats the next best upgrade I can do? better upfront battery or another battery in the back? Not enough $$ yet to buy another C&D for the back

my voltage dips really low when I have it cranked up. It gets really low like 11v if I just let it play while at idle. When im driving its not that bad..but still not good.

Honestly, I'd just get an alternator now and get that out of the way. Your electrical "should" keep up with what you have now, but obviously your alternator doesn't produce shit at idle.

Hmm a new alt was last thing id want to get. Ill finish big 3 but I dont see how just engine to chassis is going to cure it.

I didn't say it would cure anything, but why do you think they recommend it? It's the grounding path for the alternator. Without having that wire your creating a bottleneck. That's like using 1/0 for your power run and 8 gauge for your ground...

Finish the big three and if that isn't enough I would just get a better alternator...you could try getting another battery and that may help, but your just putting a larger load on an already taxed alt.

Yeah didnt say you did but Ill finish it. I grounding to the factory ground point for the battery up front...is that okay? Can I make the engine ground to the same place? Dont want this to be a big 3 thread lol.

2000w is like 250amps right? How much can 1 length of 1/0 carry? I have this high flex tsunami for wire and its pretty nice thick wire.

If you WANT to run another 1/0 it certainly will not hurt anything. You're getting close to the current draw that will see some benefit from a second run. I'm in the same boat and I ran two. I have been pretty pleased BUT I never really just ran one run so I have nothing to compare it to. Of course things will seem great with two runs if one were going to be enough. I'd say if you have the means to do it... just go ahead and do it. I don't think you'll notice a huge difference but if it helps a few tenths and keeps you up above 12v it will save your amp's life.

I'd recommend for now just not blaring at idle. You've got to keep your volume knob proportionate to your rpm.

The most important thing you can do is upgrade all your ground locations. There is no point to running 1/0 positive to the rear, then grounding to the chassis and retaining a stock 8 or 4 gauge grounding strap. The best thing to do is another run of 1/0 front to rear for ground. It has been proven that not only is steel a bad conductor compared to copper, but your chassis is made up of several welds and rusty connections between your source and load.

I have my back battery grounded seperately. I drilled and sanded a hole in the body and grounded there, then ran a wire from that spot under the car, to the chassis. Battery - frame - chassis
