Dorm setup v3.0

Heres some photos of the new dorm setup with the MTM's I made using Dayton Reference 7/Morel MDT29's. Sounds alright, need to do some more work to get them better, EQ, etc, etc.

MTM's are double layered 1/2" Birch ply with only .5" showing on the endgrain *PITA to make*. Build time was three days start to finish. Blah, blah, blah, on with the pictures for you visual people.

The ART SLA-1 is running the sub on one channel, the bass shaker on the other channel. The CX902 is on the mids, and the 1.0HV is on the tweets, DCX2496 pulling crossover duty.

Looks nice...

I would put the Powerlight on the mids...

I would say that your issues are more in the crossover settings than EQing them... Just give the mids and the tweeters room to work with out messing with each other and you should be fine. I have no doubt that EQing will be needed but don't over do it so you have that "hacked" pro audio sound....

Why would you want the powerlight on the mids?? I have the crossover at 1.96kHz or something with L-R 48dB slopes. What would you suggest?
I thought the powerlight was more power.... I was wrong... And you might try something like a 24 db and or 12 db slope so that the drivers can blend a little more, a harsh transition of drivers can give you some weird sounds...

Wanted to make sure you weren't doing something like PV and running first order at the same frequency...

Why run first when I have the capabilites to run three way 4th order?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Polyfill or equivalent in the box ?

Add a ~15mS delay on mid and tweeter DCX output for an effect. 5mS - 25mS might give you a 'concert hall' effect.

Do you have too much midrange sound in relation to bass due to bafflestep ?

http://sound.westhost.com/bafflestep.htm

if so, you can add an EQ setting for the mid output only -> LP setting, 6dB slope,

frequency = ~ 500hz, try +3dB boost.

These are just ballpark numbers as the DCX allows you to tweak settings.

I'd sweep the frequency from 200hz - 700hz to see how it sounds. Try 1, 2, 3

up to 6dB of boost. Whatever sounds good to you.

Dayton Reference 7" may have audible breakup modes beyond 2khz crossover

and you might hear is with a shallow slope, so I'd keep the 48dB/octave but

it's an easy experiment to try. I like Butterworth 3rd order, LR 4th order, and

LR 8th order soundwise.
