Where's the battery, and where are the amps located?

If it's a typical under the hood battery and the amps are in the trunk, no.
If it's something like an equinox where the battery is under the rear floorboard, and the amps are going under the rear seat, yes. Similar example would be a BMW or Mopar sedan with the battery in the trunk, and amps going in the trunk. In those cases, it makes perfect sense to run an amp ground to the battery.

Makes sense. You may be right on the gain; 2 subs on 300 watts seems anemic.
