Do you tips bad waiters/waitresses?

I've been known to leave my wife at the table while I go a block away to an ATM, then to the cash register to get change for a tip, since we seldom carry any cash. This is even for mediocre service.
lol, why dont you just do that before you go to the restaraunt? you should know darn well if you'll need tip money or not.

and you should never leave a lady unattended anywhere if your taking her out regardless of whatever excuse you have, just not gentleman like at all. i at least hope to god you bother to open the car doors for her.

he doesn't need to be a gentleman anymore he's married

personally i would make my wife go to the atm while i finished my last drink

married = no more easy street for her.

I'm not used to tipping all the time, in the UK pub food (like TFI or Chillies level eating) you pay with your card for the food when you go to the bar to get a round of drinks, the food arives, you eat it, you say thanks, you leave.

It blew me away when I got here and started to eat out, getting service with a sneer, while open jaw chewing and atention spans of an early teenager... then they expect a tip!

Don't eat yellow snow.

that's the best tip they are getting.

Now don't bust my chops because I used to wait tables too, both pub food and a nice restaurant, silver service sunday lunches and all that... I was nice to the customers and got tipped, I was nice even when they didn't tip, it's just part of being in the service industry

You get paid or you wouldn't be there.

It p!ssed me off when other servers were slack because I got it in the neck from the kitchen staff when they made great food and there was no appreciation for it because of poor service.

Think of it as a TIP, you know, extra on top of what you make, not assuming you'll get 15% just for giving the customer a 'whatever' attitude will go miles.

I'm talking about when we thought we had a few bucks in cash, but didn't, and paid for the meal before eating with a CC... think a buffet like Golden Corral or something. We paid for the meal, then when we thought about leaving realized we didn't have any cash.

As for leaving my wife, she's there with our son, holding the table while I go to get some cash, so the server doesn't think we stiffed him/her. What's so wrong about that? We're not in the ghetto, and I don't take her places I wouldn't consider safe... I'd sure never leave my wife and child in some hoodrat diner where she's likely to get molested by gangsters before I come back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

As for being gentlemanly, I don't need anyone's advice on that topic. Thankfully, I married a woman down-to-earth enough to appreciate being treated well and not to expect to be placed on a pedestal every hour of the day. I don't know what your position in life is, but I can tell you, my wife is more than happy with how she's treated on a daily basis. Thanks for the concern, though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Bad service= a token tip 1.00 and a letter to the Rest via email.....

I did it a few weeks ago at an Outback chain steak house....

They tried to offer me a freebee and I told them to stick it up there *****

Im not a sell out for a coupon...The steak was overseasoned anyways......

Usually though I leave 20% if I am happy with everything

Black people never tip! Every waiter and watress knows

your going to get a hard time and no tip from Black people

ya'll ****ed up

i'm not sure if thats the most biased or the most racist opinion i've heard in a while. an ignorant one either way since there are alot of black people that do tip, there are alot of whites who also dont tip just as there are asians who tip and dont tip. i waitered for a little while at a steakhouse during college and only recall maybe one black guy who was an as* and didnt tip vs probably 50 white people who were being very picky and sometimes negatively opinionated b*stards, some of whome ddint tip either. the most common complaint from other white people was how expensive their meal is, too pricey to tip apparantly.

at the time, i didnt care too much about tips anyway, they were shared and all i had to do was take the order and clean the tables and turn the tip money in, the girls carried the food and drinks but as a white cracker myself, the worst people i've seen in behavior and tipping were other white people. either way, its like i said before, the point of tipping is them working for it but theres always gonna be people who dont tip regardless.
