I'm not used to tipping all the time, in the UK pub food (like TFI or Chillies level eating) you pay with your card for the food when you go to the bar to get a round of drinks, the food arives, you eat it, you say thanks, you leave. It blew me away when I got here and started to eat out, getting service with a sneer, while open jaw chewing and atention spans of an early teenager... then they expect a tip! Don't eat yellow snow. that's the best tip they are getting. Now don't bust my chops because I used to wait tables too, both pub food and a nice restaurant, silver service sunday lunches and all that... I was nice to the customers and got tipped, I was nice even when they didn't tip, it's just part of being in the service industry You get paid or you wouldn't be there. It p!ssed me off when other servers were slack because I got it in the neck from the kitchen staff when they made great food and there was no appreciation for it because of poor service. Think of it as a TIP, you know, extra on top of what you make, not assuming you'll get 15% just for giving the customer a 'whatever' attitude will go miles.
