Do you think this shop charged me too little like they claim?

So today im getting my radio put in. I was at the place a week and a half ago, and i got a quote from someone there. In a car w/ a bose system, i told them i was getting a head unit put in, a set of components, a speaker amp, a sub amp, and a subwoofer already in the box that needed to be plugged in. I also needed all wires/distribution blocks/dash kit. The guy quoted me at 350 and wrote it down (but didn't write down w/ accessories even though i asked him 10x before i left if this was really the price with everything)

So I go today to drop my car off, and the guy who quoted me claims he told me 450 which wasn't true, so i tell them ill go home and fax them the estimate. I fax it to them , and i talk to the shop owner and he says the guy didn't write down with wires, and it should have been 350 just for labor + wire kit costs, to which i said thats not what the guy told me when i came for an estimate. SO he said they already started doing the car so they will give it to me at the 350 price, but then started saying that it was an insane price and telling me he hopes i know how ridicously cheap he is giving it to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif Honestly, does 350 sound that cheap for a full system install, because to me it sounds about right? 450 just sounds outrageous.

actually that sounds pretty **** good for how expensive labor is
good then. I just hope they aren't pissed off because they think i am trying to rip them and take it out on the labor quality. Im not arguing that what I am paying is below what they charge, but the dude who quoted me the price shouldn't have made an error and told me it comes with all wires with that price, when in reality it doesn't

I would say $350 to $450 is a rough estimate on what it would cost if I asked around here. You gotta remember they are probably charging you $100 for the amp install kit, $20 for a dash kit, $10 for radio wiring harness and so on.

If I have to get someone else to install my gear I usually bring everything myself instead of getting screwed on the retail prices esp the amp kit.

There was no one local from this board that could do it for you?

not really, plus its a newer luxory esque car, so i really would rather have a shop do it that is liable for damages and things, then have somene here do it for cheaper, but offer no warranty or liability for issues that may happen during install

on the quote sheet, they actually wrote 150 bucks just to install the head unit. Im guessing because its a bose factory system that is why?

Two years ago when my old car died I was in the same situation, all the equipment and no wiring, dash kit, etc. I contacted two places, one place said $350 and the other place said $450.

i hope you were nice to them...after all they do have your car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. Hopefully they don't do a sorry *** job on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

$350 seems pretty cheap...then again, that depends on the quality of the work

Yea, $350, even $450 is really good (if they do quality work). I was quoted $800 for something similar, but with 36sq ft dynamat & installation of it. I already had wire.

I was in the same boat as you. I have a 2006 Civic and knew that noone had worked with it before, which is why I figured I might as well give it a shot myself. I'd rather hack my car up than someone else. Saved myself $800 too. I did learn that I'd pay someone to run wire for me though. My back ached for 2 days after pulling my car apart just to run wire.

i was nice the whole time, i told him I appreciate it after he told me they would do the price anyway. Im sure they will do a decent job, i had my last system put in by circuit city, so im sure they can't do any worse than circuit city did.

Love 'em. My only complaint is that the higher frequencies aren't as bright as I'd like them to be, but I also don't have any hisssss in them so I'll take that trade-off anyday.

I plan on running them active here in a couple months, so maybe I can get some more out of the higher end.
